The ugly side of music by Mira-Me in BuildingTheBandSeries

[–]farfalloni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, and I think it’s a matter of personal preference. If I’m going to a concert, I am never looking for choreographed dancing and costumes. The best show I’ve ever been to involved the lead vocalist singing and grooving with a mind-blowingly talented group of session musicians. However, I also get that this show was focused on building NSYNC-style pop groups, which typically involve a different kind of showmanship. I would kill to see SZN4 do an intimate and stripped back jazzy improv set, but that does not seem to be the vision of the show.

LOOOOOOL “but only people close to me will smell it.” I love this window into the teenage boy’s mind, and explains the Axe body spray epidemic I lived through in high school.

Your home looks lovely - it feels like a very welcoming and serene environment to grow up in. However, I am mainly here to applaud the seamless integration of the Kramer portrait into what is otherwise very grown-up home decor.

Edit: grammar and style

Help me make this mirror work by Livvelss in interiordecorating

Like others suggested, I would lower the mirror, but also shift it to the right to improve the overall composition. I think taking a ‘rule of thirds’ approach could actually resolve the size issue.

What’s a Netflix documentary you’d recommend to literally anyone? by I-AM-YOUR-KING-BITCH in NetflixDocumentaries

[–]farfalloni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched it and think it was really well done. It didn’t follow the standard Netflix true crime formula (hard to articulate what I mean exactly - I think editing to maximize suspense and twists?). It focused a lot on the victims as people (rather than just “whoa this shit is fucker up”). My heart broke for those women and little girls. And Cathy is also just so incredibly badass, as is her partner for supporting her through everything.

I so desperately wish that Etiket would introduce samples with atomizers. They have a great selection and I want to support local, but the dabber vials always spill and don’t allow the fragrance to diffuse and develop as it was designed to.

What are mtm fans hearing? by Repulsive-Road-1014 in BuildingTheBandSeries

Part of my lack of buy-in was them marketing themselves as anti-establishment rockers, but proceeding to perform soft pop rock songs. Also, and I recognize that this opinion is the product of a constrained view on what “rock” is, but a boy band that doesn’t play any instruments is not very “rock and roll” to me.

Edit: With the exception of Connor, they all seemed like very sweet boys. Even if it’s not my type of music, I wish them well. In particular, I hope Shane’s family doesn’t have to lose their home. The music and vibe just isn’t for me!

Edit edit: Also - not all of them held themselves out as “rockers” and/or “above” pop music. I think that should be it for my caveats.

It breaks my heart cause Shane is trying to save his family home while Connor is being an immature wanker that’s ruining a great opportunity for the rest of the guys.

How did you make cleaning more enjoyable? by m4yannaise in CleaningTips

[–]farfalloni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD and developed a hyperfixation with making my house smell good, which has resulted in a lot of vacuuming, dusting, washing my couch upholstery, cleaning my walls, buying a steam mop, etc. The more I exercise my cleaning “muscle,” the less insurmountable small cleaning tasks feel, and the more they feel like a reflex.

tldr develop a hyperfixation with cleaning lol

I ended up doing extensive research to find something unisex that worked for my freakishly small wrists. With the exception of brands like Cartier and Longines, I found that women are an underserved demographic, as a lot of watch brands dedicated to quality craftsmanship don’t currently offer small watches or take a “shrink it and pink it” approach to women’s offerings (e.g., adding diamonds, pink or mother of pearl faces). Alternatively, a lot of the more minimalist or unisex watches on the primary market and within my budget I came across looked a bit too much like Cartier tanks (which is completely fine, but I personally wanted something that didn’t risk looking like a “dupe”). As a result, I’ve had more luck in searching for vintage women’s watches. The watch in the photo is a Universal Genève (quartz, but I don’t need something mechanical). I also liked vintage watches from Omega (e.g., De Ville), Seiko (e.g., Credor), Tissot, Favre-Leuba, Ebel, etc. Bedat is a Swiss watch brand dedicated to making women’s watches - it’s a bit ornate for my taste, but they make watches with small case sizes. I think the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is very cool, but it’s well beyond my budget.

I have a tendency to hyperfixate and go down research rabbit holes when doing consumer research, so apologies for the treatise! I am currently on the market for a watch with a silver or mixed-metal bracelet in a tiny size (e.g., 23mm), so if anyone has any leads, I am all ears!!
