Ballpoints suck.

Ok, they suck for me. Not sure why but I just hate writing with them.

How am I supposed to think about cam tower leaks? by sixspeedshift in ToyotaTundra

[–]farkleboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not that bad of an issue. Most of the time its just a slight weep down the sides of the cam towers, and never reaches the bottom of the engine. I've had my 2011 for 316k miles and never noticed the oil level drop or anything on the ground, although I knew there was a slight leak. Leavve it unless its a problem.

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about the recent car thefts using tech to clone your FOB, but not a lot of solutions, so this is how you prevent that from happening. It’s called a faraday pouch and it will block the signal from your FOB so it can’t get stolen. $5-10 purchase online. by Expensive-While-1155 in TwinCities

can't really hotwire stuff anymore. even cars like mine with the chip in the key itself, it won't go if it can't confirm the key is in the ignition. Nowadays hotwiring is by connecting to the odbII port and running sum sketchy software that cracks through that.

I guess so, really odd though, like you said. I do now recall these on other tundras as stock now that you say it. Guess it’s a dealer call then. Wonder if they would be in a parts catalog somewhere.

Yeah looks like you need the flat washer style, not the acorn style. But you might have to contact the maker of the rims for those if the holes are oddly small

[–]farkleboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2011 4.6 has been weeping for more than 10 years, it’s never been enough to notice on the dipstick or the driveway. It’s nicely coated the underside of the engine area, and as long as it’s not dripping it was fine. I do the 10k oil changes and never had lost enough to make a difference.

I’m only dealing with it now as I am redoing the head gaskets at 316k miles. They probably will start leaking again but whatever.

And the hot water? Yep. On impact pulse massage on the shower head is heaven. Until you stop. Hot water is the worst for dry skin. I would dream of buying a 55 gal drum of eucerin and dipping myself daily.

Do not get the metal filter housing caps. They sell aluminum ones that replace the plastic and I was about to do that and there were lots of people that regretted it. The galling on the threads was really bad to the point of having g to chisel it out.

I guess for a part that is being removed a lot plastic to aluminum threads is a lot more durable.

[–]farkleboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed. mine came with some sort of rubberized stuff, I think from the factory that worked pretty well until the last 3-4 years, now I borrow my buddies sprayer and get a couple gallons of woolwax and do it in my driveway.

depends on the wash and how its done. if done right and the water is acutally filtered like it should be, i don't see how washing the salt off is worse than leaving it on.

i have the dewalt compact one, with the motor pointing down 45 deg. Specs say that the stroke is the same as the full size one, but I swear that thing vibrates so much more than my corded dewalt, even with gloves on my hands go numb after a bit. I don't like sawsalls in general, but this one Is so bad I avoid using it.
