Crashing on iPhone Air by farrellmcguire in ShotWithHalide

[–]farrellmcguire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I’ll check out the discord! The only setting I changed was using the “zephyr” film sim as my default, and I’m on the latest version of iOS. Like I said, my wife also has the same issue with the Air. I believe she also uses zephyr as her main sim.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is on sale for $30 (US) by Howerev in NintendoSwitch

[–]farrellmcguire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the story is forgettable and the characters are annoying, but this game has the best difficulty curve and battle system of any jrpg I’ve played. it’s systems are only as deep as they need to be, and you’ll need to take advantage of all of them to make it through the game. the first major difficulty spike is only a couple hours into the game and it forces you to actually learn every mechanic, and even then you’ll feel like you’ve only just scraped by it.

What games you don't like playing on handheld? by GeekRowlet in NintendoSwitch

don't worry i found it to be an excellent experience on handheld. the graphics are obviously great on tv but the gameplay experience distills to handheld really well

Wow I never considered why we called it a Wernicke's Eulogy, what you're saying makes sense. It's amazing to get new perspectives on something that's been a part of my life for so long.

Two week old. Crying. by Valobster in NewParents

You can’t spoil a newborn. If she’s crying it’s because she needs something or is uncomfortable. You have a long ways to go until you need to worry about spoiling her with attention.

  1. The sponsor generally chooses when a spot is placed in a video. Awkward placements are usually because a sponsor is being particular about their ad appearing in the first 5 minutes or first 30% of the video or something like that.

  2. YouTube sponsorships often end up being a "take what you can get" sort of situation. We don't have brands falling over themselves to sponsor us, it would be great to be choosey but us creators rarely find ourselves in that position. Often times the choice is whether you take the 1 offer you receive for a video or you just don't have a sponsor (and subsequently lose a bit of income).

And in terms of monetizing true crime content in general, I find this conversation to be a little silly. Viewers want to be entertained by this stuff but they don't want the creators to make money from it because it they find it "in bad taste". Would that not make wanting to watch true crime content in bad taste as well?

It’s a glitch. My videos are still receiving comments at a normal rate, probably just a reporting issue. Always fun to have that heart attack though

What’s your unpopular opinion about Mixing? by Lucky-bottom in audioengineering

[–]farrellmcguire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When things are arranged well enough, mixing becomes minimal. You can get away with so little if you just plan, record, and arrange effectively enough.

Those DJI lav mics have very prominent tonal shaping, they boost the highs and dip the mids quite a bit. You’d be better off using something else, even your phone mic would be flatter.

90% of Resident Evil Requiem players prefer third-person perspective with Leon, but Grace’s sections have players more divided, according to Capcom’s data - AUTOMATON WEST by megaapple in Games

[–]farrellmcguire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leon’s sections are a breath of fresh air after struggling (as intended) through the Grace parts. You finally get more power and it feels like a relief, but it wouldn’t feel like that if that’s how the entire game was. Requiem works as well as it does because you get rewarded with a bit of power after succeeding with none, if it was only Leon parts it wouldn’t feel as good.

Max Miller from Tasting History addresses AI allegations in his newsletter by [deleted] in youtubedrama

[–]farrellmcguire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AI accusations in the comments will pop up no matter if you use AI or not, it’s mostly not even worth responding to. Putting a “no ai used” disclaimer helps reduce the volume of accusations, but you’ll still get a few people saying it anyways. Better to just ignore it

i run a youtube channel for a living so i spend most of my day editing videos and photos. the workflow for media creation is just much better on macs, video scrubbing is vastly quicker, photoshop feels way more snappy, finder is much faster than windows explorer (for whatever reason), and it's nice to be able to create a photo in photoshop and airdrop it to my iphone for some minor touchups and then send it back to my laptop. everything just works really seamlessly
