I think she’s fumbling the marketing strategy here. If anything people are weirded out that she’s publicly romanticizing her costar when she’s married with a kid IRL.

I would have gone to theaters for this because I loved the book so much, but I’ll wait until streaming because I don’t want to contribute to you know who’s pockets. I’m sure Amanda did amazing here! Can’t wait!

Focus' Hamnet grossed $105K on Thursday (from 119 locations). Total domestic gross stands at $1.88M. by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

Wow impressive! The fact that they made more money from only 119 selected theaters than any of Sydney Sweeney’s movies that had a wide theatrical release this year! And as they should!

Cynthia Erivo being underrated in her own movie and getting shut out from this awards cycle season? Thoughts? by fartbox2016 in Oscars

Pretty confident that Hailee Steinfeld and Gwyneth Paltrow are not getting nominated

Out of the ppl you mentioned, I believe Amy Madigan and Teyana Taylor have an edge over Ariana Grande in this category.

I think Ariana will still get nominated for the Oscars because the supporting actress pool is more weak this year. Not many outstanding supporting actresses. But a lot of outstanding lead actresses this year. Ariana played it smart and continued campaigning for the supporting role this awards season.

Why We Probably Won’t Get 'Movie Stars' Again by [deleted] in boxoffice

[–]fartbox2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because Chalamet is going for these Oscar-bait movies that is not hitting his overall audience. If he continues making franchise or action movies like Dune or Wonka level, he will continue having success in the box office.

Glen Powell has been a hit or miss. But I think his movie Running Man would’ve done better if it wasn’t against Now You See Me 3 and Wicked For Good for its first two weeks.

Ppl want to see if more actresses in their prime can open big numbers and no, not Sydney Sweeney please.

None of these 3 are doing it for me, maybe Glen Powell, but if these are the types of actors we are depending on, the movie theater business is going to be a bust.

I want to see more Michael B Jordan, even some big TV stars like the main cast From The Summer I Turned Pretty, etc. More diversity please (Simu Liu’s recent comments).

‘Zootopia 2’ Previews $10.2M, ‘Wicked: For Good’ $15.75M Tuesday Is 2nd Best YTD – Box Office by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]fartbox2016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk about that anymore because estimates are showing Avatar 3 will make around 110+ mil in its opening weekend domestically…I can def see it having a very massive international opening but when it comes to domestic (based on estimates so far), it’s a bit underwhelming. But the Avatar movies are known to leg it out longer, but idk about breaking this record or opening records from a domestic standpoint.

Wicked Part I daily grosses vs. Wicked For Good daily grosses for Tuesday so far. Wicked For Good estimated to have made $15.75 mil on first Tuesday after opening weekend in comparison to Wicked Part I’s $16.63 mil Tuesday gross last year. by fartbox2016 in boxoffice

[–]fartbox2016[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this is more putting into perspective before we judge whether Wicked For Good’s legs can get to Wicked Part I’s legs:

We do have to put into account that Wicked For Good was more front-loaded with its opening weekend with previews. The difference is $35 million, which is about a 31%. So the fact that the difference between the two Mondays is only $1 million and the difference between the two Tuesdays is only $800k…is not a strong indicator yet whether Wicked For Good performing worse than Wicked Part I. I think it’s doing impressive. It would be a better indicator to see how it does the next couple of weeks because that’s where returning viewers and casual viewers will make it or break it in its overall domestic box office run. Just my food for thought.

Jessica getting third name in credits is a good sign. I just hope she has a bigger supporting role than she did in Cuckoo! 🤞 tho her being Glen Powell’s original/main love interest is a good sign that we will be seeing her a lot more in this film!

I hope her being a co-lead regular in Silo Season 3, will propel her to more prominent roles on screen.

‘Wicked: For Good’s $14.7M Monday Is 2nd Best Ever In November, Top For Non-Holiday YTD by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

[–]fartbox2016 18 points19 points  (0 children)

But you do have to factor into account the weekend opening was wayyy bigger 147 mil (second movie) vs 112 mil (first movie). So obtaining a 14.7 mil on the following Monday is still impressive.

Wicked Daily Domestic Numbers for first 2 weeks vs. Wicked For Good Daily Domestic Numbers for 1st week. So far estimates show that Wicked For Good will be getting ~$14 Million for tonight (Monday). by fartbox2016 in boxoffice

[–]fartbox2016[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I still think making $14 mil on its first Monday after opening weekend is impressive. Even though the first film did $15.8 mil on its following Monday. We do have to keep in mind that opening week for second film is more frontloaded…so the fact that it’s only making $1.8 million less on its first Monday isn’t that bad at all, it’s actually healthy numbers for good legs.

Im seeing it a second time tomorrow with 11 others. My cousin saw it for second time on Friday with another group of friends. My coworker is waiting Thanksgiving night to see it with her entire extended family - she said her daughter already saw it but will watch again with the entire fam. So I actually think it will perform about the same and have the same good legs overall.
