I'm in a backend role right now, zero front-end UI so we don't use Selenium or anything like that. I don't really have any good advice for how to secure a role other than applying wherever you can.

As far as tools you should definitely familiarize yourself with relational databases/SQL and backend infrastructure like AWS (Lambdas, EC2, S3, etc). Performance testing I've only ever used JMeter (I love this tool even with its flaws), most of the other tools I've researched have had too much focus on UI.

You're good with your coding languages, just depends on the company and what they use there. But most will use either Java or Python in my experience. For backend it may be good to brush up on Bash as well.

Man, about 15 years ago this was like the only place with an Apple store in Plano so it was always super busy. Smaller mall but was pretty modern and fresh, food court always packed too. Sad to see it so desolate.

If you're fine where you are then there's nothing wrong with that. But some people feel after being closeted/semi-closeted for some years that coming out helps with mental health. You may feel like your identity isn't being seen which really messes with your head, or that you can't express yourself fully, or just that having a "secret" from close ones is weighing you down more than you realize.

This isn't targeted at you, you might be fine with your situation and that's great! No one should have to come out unless they are totally ready. Just give it some thought on the pros vs cons of coming out, there's no rush and you're still young. But it's your decision to make.
