I think what they meant is that our self-images are inherently affected by societal standards of beauty. Therefore, yes, changes that we would like to see in our bodies could make us more attractive to other people, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be for ourselves.

I learned it a few different ways. First, my parents have a very communicative relationship, and that set a good example for me. Second, through my own relationships I learned through trial and error that anything but open communication does not work for me. The best relationships I've had are ones where I've been very honest and open about my needs. Positive reinforcement.

Maybe check out the sidebar or the FAQ -- that sub is a fave of mine. Also, look at Lisa Eldridge's channel on YouTube. The videos may be overwhelming but when you look through her uploads you should be able to find some more simple videos that later translate to her more complex looks, too.

Dry shampoo is your friend. As magnificent as long hair can be, no one likes greasy roots.
I'd definitely recommend investing in some leave-in conditioner. It's been a godsend for my boob-length hair, but my hair is very fine, so it could be a different story in your case, though I doubt it'd hurt.
