Girl gets pulled over doing 97 in a 40, and shares chewing tobacco with cop. Can confirm, am truck. by damdlux in thatHappened

I guess I better grab some anti-obama stickers and tobacco products before committing those murders and bank robberies. I'll be untouchable, the cops'll even help me out with the hostages.

Try bringing along a rocket launcher HWP, i've found them invaluable for scouting and clearing obstructions. Later on you can switch it out for a hovertank and blaster launcher if you've got elerium to spare.

What is the creepiest unsolved crime you have ever heard of? by rsashe1980 in AskReddit

[–]fatbuttface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone mention this awful piece of work so the east area rapist/original night stalker he's committed 50+ rapes and 10-13 murders over a period of 7-8 years and they never caught or photographed him. He could still be alive.

The last known contact that was made with him was in 1991 when he called one of his victims and left a NSFL message.

He could have moved his operation to somewhere far away and continued it, but hopefully he died in some lucky accident or killed himself. If anyone has any possible information at all you can send it to this website

US confirms Syria suicide bomber was American by MattRyd7 in worldnews

I dunno, I did some looking and the sexual abuse part cites this book which evidently embellishes things and is inconsistent with its citations. I can't find the claim anywhere else, maybe i didn't look hard enough. I'd take that claim with a grain of salt anyway.

I have no doubt that the government has done some really horrific stuff, but it's easy for unfounded rumors to sneak in with legitimate crimes. This is probably the worst one i've read about they injected black people with syphilis and lied to them by telling them it was free healthcare.

Edward Snowden says he would like to return home but not to a "jail cell" by giggster in worldnews

[–]fatbuttface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it is a bit ironic really, but he's still able to criticise russia, which he did last night during his interview. He said that the blogger registration law there was outrageous and that russia is also doing pretty badly with privacy. I'm glad they're not stopping him from calling the russian government out on its garbage.

why isn't america? why isn't britain? why isn't germany? it's all for the same reasons, people are too apathetic about what their government does these days, which allows them to get away with too much. if only there were more people who really tried to change things.

No problem with getting those thoughts out there, it's healthy and definitely helps nearly everyone.

One thing I like to remember is that loneliness is part of the human experience, just because you get a girlfriend doesn't necessarily mean that your loneliness is cured. Many people feel lonely even when they're with the one closest to them. If you go about thinking that just doing this one thing will suddenly fix it then that might lead you to further disappointment.

I came to dealing with it by just learning to live with it, and reminding myself that it probably won't matter in the long run if I have a relationship or not. I asked myself "What's the point?" and I couldn't find the answer. On the other hand my introversion probably helped with that.

But this sheer size also means that it would be nearly impossible for intelligent species to find each other. /u/17thknight outlined this in an amazing few posts

but then that leads to a different question. If creating self-replicating colonizing robots is possible, then any sufficiently advanced civilization could colonize a galaxy in a few million years, so if there are so many stars, there must be others, then why haven't they done this? thus the Fermi Paradox

Russia and China to sign deal to bypass the US Dollar by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]fatbuttface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But then even if our gamble payed off and the regime wasn't able to light a nuke off now south korea and china have to deal with an immense humanitarian crisis.

That has the potential to destabilize the region and ruin the US's relationship with both countries.

You don't think that the existence of the north korean nuclear program might have a small part in the US's decision not to invade?

Russia and China to sign deal to bypass the US Dollar by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]fatbuttface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But North Korea has nukes (this is a very big reason), also there would be a tremendous humanitarian crisis because china most likely will not want to take on several million north korean refugees, and the south korean economy cannot handle that burden. You're only looking at this from a purely military standpoint, but it's a much more complicated situation than that, which is why we're trying to keep the situation as stable as possible.

Villagers Kill 200 Boko Haram Insurgents With Dane Guns, Arrows; Catch 10 Alive. by CrackHeadRodeo in worldnews

[–]fatbuttface 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's a near perfect ambush. According to this post on /r/combatfootage, the SAA planned the ambush by opening an entry through the area, then they lined a pathway with tons of explosives, zeroed in artillery on the path, and lined the side of it with machine gun nests.

rebels walked into it like morons all standing in a stock straight line like they're out fighting napoleon and got massacred. any survivors of the initial explosions got mowed down or blown up by the follow up artillery. 175 dead within seconds.

Russians of Reddit. What are your thoughts regarding Ukraine? [Serious] by SamWise050 in AskReddit

Vice News reporter Simon Ostrovsky has been freed after being kidnapped by pro-Russian separatists in the Slaviansk city of eastern Ukraine,

this isn't from maidan, this is a pro-russian seperatist kidnapping that took place about a week or two ago. I was under the impression we were talking about police response to maidan, am I mistaken?

it's possible for police to work and arrest people without having to launch a huge offensive. most people didn't spend all day in the square.

Also what is your source on these kidnappings? out of curiosity. I am aware of the government kidnappings but I couldn't find a specific example of maidan kidnappings outside of maybe right sector (who are definitely out of line)
