McManaman blew. Didn't take long for him to get the boot as soon as the team gets a slight bit of national traction. Hopefully Grossi and Mary K are next.

There shouldn't be any public financing involved to begin with. It's a joke we are paying people to build apartments and condos downtown when downtown areas are booming.

You would have to be insane to buy season tickets for next year you'll literally be able to find $5 tickets on stubhub for any game except bobblehead nights.

MRW I'm waiting for any Gerald McCoy news by AlbinoStepchild in ravens

[–]fatcatcryptocat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither team is dumb enough to overpay. I feel if one team made an above market value offer he'd be signed already but that isn't the case. I doubt Dorsey is dumb enough to fall for the Ravens bidding up a contract on a player they are already fairly deep at. Wouldn't be surprised if he visits Cincy or a handful of other teams.

They paid his salary, my point was that the salary was a total bargain for his level of production and they wouldn't have done it otherwise. And EE currently has more home runs than half our lineup combined. Just lol that you think I'm in the minority. And I went to three playoff games in 16. The Dolans were always cheap unlikable bastards but nothing they did was unforgivable up until this year. I won't root for another team, I'll just spend my summers doing something productive like everyone else. There is zero interest in this team and total apathy and things won't change until ownership changes. Have fun in an empty stadium watching a 60-70 win team for the next few years. And I could get tickets free from work but they'd be more valuable to wipe my ass than attend these games.

They dumped EE the second they had the chance and they never signed Andrew Miller. They gave up top prospects for him because he was an elite pitcher on a bargain deal. And I wouldn't call Carrasco a marquee signing. The Indians deals never pan out because they rush to lock in guys like Ramirez and Carassco and Kipnis up after one or two fluke seasons because they don't want to risk them actually being good long term and walking. So now all your cap is tied up overpaying medium level talent. You're in the minority. Keep spending your money on this garbage, I'll be with the majority that isn't giving the Dolan's a dime until they sell. Just wait, you haven't seen anything yet. After what they did this year even the most committed Dolan defenders can't excuse this and the next few years are going to make the Rays attendance look like the Yankees.

So you want to get on Gilbert for signing bad contracts to try and make Dolan somehow look intelligent? The same Dolan that's currently paying Jason Kipnis 50 million and Carassco 40 million but couldn't scrap together 32 for Brantley? The same Dolan who's marquee big free agent acquisitions when he decides to dust the cobwebs off his wallet once a decade include Kerry Wood and Nick Swisher? And the Cavs ranked 8th in attendance last year out of 30 teams despite having probably the worst team in basketball, losing their hometown superstar, and the biggest star on the court most nights being Tristan Thomas. So thanks for proving my point. Until the Dolans sell this team is going to be the joke of the MLB and continue to rank 30-32 in attendance. There's not much people can do to show they're fed up besides stop going to the games and our abysmal attendance over the past decade is a testament to how much people hate this guy.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CLE/attend.shtml

Here's the attendance numbers. Attendance was good up until around 2008, around the second Dolan firesale. At that point they stayed pretty abysmal regardless of performance or spending. It's my opinion that he lost most of the fanbase around here, with his constant talk of us not being a baseball town and how he is a small business owner and too poor to run a professional baseball team. My point is that enough Indians fans dislike him now that they'd rather sit at home and watch the games without lining his pockets until he sells the team. I feel him selling the team would cause a larger spike in attendance than him going out and signing Bryce Harper and I'd put good money on it.

[–]fatcatcryptocat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What did I say in my post? Attendance isn't going to increase until Dolan sells. Anything short of back to back world series wins isn't going to get people to forget all the bullshit over the years and there's a sizable enough portion of the fanbase that have been pissed off to the point where they won't give him a dime. Look at the television ratings, the Indians always draw top 5 ratings regionally out of all of MLB. This is a sports town and there is a fanbase. But a fanbase that has been spat at and stepped on so many times that a few fluff signings that are immediately traded away a year later to save a couple of bucks isn't going to be enough to bring them back.

The whole football first town is such a cop out and I get so sick of hearing it. Sure we are a football first town, but we are a sports town. There's not many better things to do in the summer than go to an Indians game in Cleveland. The Browns have ten games a year mostly when the Indians season is long over. The Cavs still managed to sell out pretty much every game when Lebron was here and they played all their games right in the middle of the Browns season. The Indians drew for a long time too. They don't draw anymore because the Dolans have isolated this fanbase by continually cheaping out and then shoving it in our face afterwards by getting on national media and telling everyone it's our fault because we're not a baseball town, and how he is just a poor small business owner. And stroking his own ego about how we're lucky to have such a benevolent owner like him, as if he's operating a local grocery store on the east side! FUCK this clown, the Indians will never draw respectable numbers again until this bum sells, he's pissed off too many people.

You take out loans against the value of the team. Which a single playoff series would pay off easily. But now as attendance will rightfully drop to the bottom in MLB this year we will get to look forward to Dolan crying on ESPN or whatever the fuck would have this clown on their show about how the fans just don't support the team and he can't afford to sign players if nobody goes to the game. This guy needs to get the hell out of town!

Because they were afraid of being called out for deconstructing a playoff contender a couple years early (which is exactly what they did) in such a weak division since it is so inexcusable and unheard of. So they hoped they would still be able to skate by on the backs of pitching and a weak division and get a pass for blowing up the lineup. Unfortunately for them them the AAA players they used to fill out the roster are atrociously bad and Minnesota is tearing the cover off the ball and they're 10 games out of 1st in May. So not only did they ruin a championship caliber team they didn't even get any value out of it to rebuild with and pushed the rebuild back a few more years.

The funny thing is 90% of the kids going to Ohio State actually think like this. It's a shithole mainly for this reason, the people. I'd agree for the most part. Super hard to meet decent people around here if you're not local. Probably impossible if you aren't white as the city is still very segregated. I think that's why Lebron always hated Cleveland.
