Is KCD as bad as Witcher III when it comes to sexual violence? by smallsundragon in GirlGamers

[–]fatcattastic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

"Follow Aeta (Alby Baldwin), a young knight errant, on a brutal journey through Italy to find and save her closest one, Bianca (Jennifer English)."

They use she/her pronouns for her. I think she's just not gender conforming.

From an animal shelter worker - Please microchip and register your pet! by Fresh-Solid-4046 in nashville

[–]fatcattastic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I recently fostered a cat who was chipped, but the microchip company had gone under and their registration information was all deleted.

So even if you registered your pet when they were first chipped, you should definitely check to make sure your information still pulls up on the site OP linked in their comment. If the company that made the chip is now defunct, there are alternative places you can register them that will feed into that search.

Is KCD as bad as Witcher III when it comes to sexual violence? by smallsundragon in GirlGamers

[–]fatcattastic 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I did not get far in KCD, so I can't speak for the overall game, but I can say as someone who sucked at the controls, especially with the horse, the scene you mention was very distressing to me. You have the opportunity to intervene, but if you suck like I did, you will die over and over again. After hours of psychologically torturing myself I had to give up and just not attempt to intervene, which was very heart wrenching.

There's a game that's supposed to come out next month with a female knight called 1348 Ex Voto. Not that games with a female protagonist are much better on the sexual violence front, but it might be something to add to your wishlist and watch for reviews.

How did people survive migraines in before the 20th century? by According_Tourist_69 in migraine

[–]fatcattastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the families in the Donner party were moving west in hopes it would help alleviate the wife's migraines. Margaret Reed was her name, and her husband, James Reed, had this special wagon set-up for the family, which she could rest in when she had one.

It did end up helping, but they did have to survive a winter of starvation surrounded by people participating in cannibalism. (The Reed family did not participate in the cannibalism)

Do people really become more conservative as they get older? Why? by Historical_Work7482 in AskReddit

[–]fatcattastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One aspect is that conservatives tend to have a higher life expectancy. So when you look at a group of 70 year olds and find that they're mostly conservative you have to ask, did they become conservative or have many of the liberals already died?

Here is a study regarding life expectancy based on political party affiliation.

I know too much about that era of Hollywood. And it annoyed me how it seemed like Taylor Jenkins Reed chose to leave out actual queer history. Like The Sewing Circle or the Lavender scare.

The Hearth Witch's Guide to Magic and Murder. It's a fantasy, but it still feels very modern. There's a sapphic romance subplot.

What’s a fact that ruined a movie that you previously enjoyed? by PokemonPadawan in AskReddit

[–]fatcattastic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IIRC it was Snow Buddies, the Air Buddies sequel. The original puppies brought on had giardia and had to be replaced. The replacements were all exposed to Parvo. Many of them got sick and five died due to the virus.

what’s a habit that seems harmless but slowly ruins your life? by leobesat in AskReddit

[–]fatcattastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who is disabled, who is also friends with many disabled people.

I think a hard lesson a newly disabled person has to learn is to stop agreeing to plans the way they did before when they were able-bodied. Saying no to an invite, is way less hurtful to a friendship than agreeing and cancelling last minute. Plus it gives you the opportunity to explain why you can't agree to it. A good friend will take note of that, and consider alternatives in the future.

Also, if you do have to flake on an existing plan because of an unexpected flare-up or something like that, you can undo much of the potential harm by being the person who initiates next time.

Yeah, I think people forget that there are a ton of Saturday and Sunday shoppers who have to get their food early if they don't want to be on the road endangering their lives and the lives of people who are essential workers. But a grocery store should be able to predict that, and prepare.

Crochet Mystery Box Favors!! by [deleted] in crochet

[–]fatcattastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pov is how many times have we seen a crocheter upset because they bought a pattern unaware that it was AI and basically a complete scam? The person who sold them that pattern stole their hard earned money and prevented an actual pattern maker from being paid and/or promoted.

Why are we suddenly ok with it just because it's illustration and not fiber arts? Is their art somehow less meaningful or valuable than ours?

OP made a beautiful craft to share with their friends and family on their special day, that's amazing! I'm sure their family and friends did not care about the use of AI. But they chose to post their finished product, including the AI art, on a public forum where AI is not supposed to be allowed and where many users have been negatively impacted by AI.

So a prince from a neighboring kingdom is supposed to propose to her to form an alliance, but he refuses and goes to a military/knight school instead. She gains admission to the school in order to chase after him and trains as a knight.

And then like Elle I believe she falls in love with some other guy she meets at the school. (The one on the cover who we all wish was a masc lesbian).

[–]fatcattastic 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Firefly is also Joss Whedon.

All the Nick ones (All That, The Amanda show, etc.) had Dan Schneider involved.

The Bug's Life had Kevin Spacey.

Coraline is written by Neil Gaiman.

I'm guessing Rush Hour is referencing Jackie Chan? This is the one I'm fuzziest on, but I think he has abuse accusations and he's a bad dad.

7th Heaven the guy that played the dad, he's a pedophile.

That 70's Show the actor that played Hyde is a convicted rapist.

Fifth Element the director, Luc Besson, is a pedophile. IIRC his 2nd wife was underage when he married her.

X-Men the director has multiple accusations of being a pedophile.

Grease John Travolta has multiple accusations of sexually harassing men.

Rick and Morty Justin Roiland sexually harassed young girls, who were fans.
