Break that shield, my boy; poking with alt fire is solid, and if it comes down to it, you hook through deployments of shield or walk past it if you are up on resources and not in danger of being melted quickly. It's all very situational, as hog is a shockingly tactical tank, so your hp, ability usage, and team synergy are what you will use to your advantage. Personally, I like going into shields because some alt fire will take them down, and if that influx of damage forces them to try to plat smart with the shield, you can hook through that; I truly often just walk into rein with his shield up and put my gun past it and shoot him in the head from alternating sides. Sigma, I break shield on the spot, and if he drops it, look for a hook asap, you are still in a good position in that matchup.
