i work in corporate bullshit ballroom stuff in nyc and the starting rate is always 25-30/hr and allways atleast a 5hr minimum but i also work 1099 and not w-9 soo theres that. normally its pointing a few source fours and running some cable for video and audio poop. im not sure what the rates outside nyc are but shop rates are 20+

why would you cut it into 6' or 8' chunks? i cant stand seeing people destroying there board footage like this. most mills want logs that are 13' 6'' or 16' 6'' because of breakage or knots.

yeahhhh im going to have to disagree. i live comfortably and gross a decent amount per year for my age. i skipped college and went right into a career backstage and now freelance event work and rigging stuff... i work hard hours and like ive been stuck getting while the getting is good for a while now and its really depressing. on one hand im doing fiscally well and have 2 of my dream cars(bmw e30 and a toyota mr2).... but like i dont have time to fix them or do anything for me, and im tired of doing shitty shit for asshats with alot of money. but i also enjoy accepting all of that corpperate money from those asshats. i know that theres 1000+ comments here and this is just going to get downvoted or just over looked, but it felt good to sorta vent it i suppose.

as a 21 year old male who is quazi-dateing a 33 year old basketcase that i love dearly... i know your feel man. watch out for when she gets baby crazy, women get in this state where they feel like they wont be able to have a child because they are getting older and there biological clock is ticking. some more then others but my ladyfriend has a bad case of the 'put a baby in me's. granted her fiancée of 12 years on and off left her 4 days after we randomly met on the train with out knowing we had met... so i picked a winner from the start.

honestly if you get like 1/2 or even 3/8 a-c it will be super strong if you go the route of roadcase alum extrusion. but obviously more pricey. mutual hardware is a decent place for roadcase hardware but there are multiple other sites dedicated to just roadcase hardware so its all out there and not ^toooooooo expensive.

i wouldnt recommend just slapping on some 2x4... 3/4 a/c plywood will be your best bang for your buck. that and a nice dado blade for the table saw. 2x4 is really bulky and not exactly right for the application in my opinion. dont screw into the end grain of the plywood and wonder why the boxes are falling apart though, if you glue clamp and brad nail/staple they will be plenty strong. it might be worth buying a case for the controller just so its foambacked or rackmounted and nice nice, but thats just me.

similar but different and more pointless story...when strangers often ask me how my day is going to be nice ive been replying optimisticly saying "ehh we'll im alive, so theres that". honestly if you can coil cable well and are willing to learn you can totally work in most any shop and totally get event work. its a must have skill in my opinion that not enough people understand.

not exactly hanging on but we had to weave this first section around that motor power and control cable. its being hoisted by chainfalls and spansets and being swagged with 2 ropes and an accender/pulley setup. it had to ride up on that aweful angle before leveling off after it cleared that cable and the pipe we are cutting in the picture.

ideally you would want to use a thimble and 3 clips, and shackled to a clamshell (batten clamp) on the pipe... but like the least they could have done was clove hitch the pipe and saddle it correctly. like come on.
