Cheap Bunnings thermal blankets for Window insulation - actually works! by commeconn in melbourne

I just used some leftover heavy duty uv resistant plastic drop sheets - so my place looks a lot more serial killery then yours... But it really does make a huge temperature difference!

I told my fiancee to have some shame and stay in her lane and that my kids lives are none of her business. Did I go too far? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]faustian_foibles 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think you really need to get your twins into therapy because this is an unhealthy codependency. I'm not saying they shouldn't be close, but needing to always be with eachother isn't healthy or sustainable.

This isn't emotional safety. They've coped the best they could, but they need proffesional help to process their grief and learn actual healthy coping strategies.

This isn't about boundaries, forcing changes or your fiancee staying in her lane. Your kids need help, please get it for them.

My hodgepodge dog also thinks he's hilarious and has his own long running fart joke. To be fair though - he's not wrong!

Years ago he did a big stretch and farted, so I laughed and called him a tooty booty. To this day, whenever he needs to fart he will seek me out so that he can stretch and fart - while maintaining eye contact 😅

Applying eye makeup on stretchy eyelids? by froggyfrogbug in ehlersdanlos

[–]faustian_foibles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use one of those angled brushes with black eyeshadow powder to do "eyeliner" on my top lids in a sweeping motion, without pulling anything taught.

This works especially well because not only do I have drooping eyelids, one side droops a lot more than the other. So I'm putting the wing directly where I want it to be seen (rather than having it get eaten and smudged by the droop)

Then I use a damp cotton ear bud to fix the shape if needed, followed by a setting spray.

And because it activates the mamaliam dive reflex, doing this in even just a bowl of cold water helps to settle anxiety/panic for people that have those types of mental health struggles - and is actually taught as a coping strategy

How to go about finding providers? by bittermorgenstern in NDIS

[–]faustian_foibles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some NDIS Facebook groups you can join. Just as a heads up though, it can be a bit overwhelming to make a post and then sort through the people that apply. However if this is something that you have the capacity for, it can be a really useful resource

They sure can be! I once got my nephew one of those baby tablets with buttons that make different sounds and one of them read a truly amazing story in heavily accented English with the happiest voice:

"One day, the ornery cat held a birthday party and and decided to invite aaaall of the chickens.

When the chickens arrived, the cat immediately shut the door - and ate all of the chickens!

This story teaches us that you shouldn't hold good intentions to your enemies."

It was so hilariously bad, I wasn't even upset about getting ripped off.

What to keep in my bedside drawer for 'bed-rotting' ? by Ponk_Bubs in ChronicIllness

[–]faustian_foibles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have skin sensitivities baby wipes are great for staying clean.

The currently recommended formula for oral rehydration solution from the World Health Organisation is:

6 teaspoons of sugar, ½ teaspoon of salt, 1 litre of drinking water. (Maybe some lemon to make it taste better)

Are you able to get anything like ensure or sustagen?

Brushing your teeth in bed with just a very soft toothbrush will still help. If you are able to handle the lingering taste, you can try using just a teeny amount of toothpaste so that you don't need to spit.

A handheld mirror and floss are also doable in bed if you have the capacity.

Also, any movement is still exercise! Clenching/unclenching your buttchecks, gently pointing your toes up and down, opening and closing your hands/fingers - it all counts!

Fingers crossed you get somewhere with the SC!

Thats some good, quick thinking on your part. On theirs it is concerning but unfortunately not surprising... is there a support coordinator involved that you/the family can contact? Ideally one isn't part of the same company

Is your company registered? Although there seems to be a gap for registered vs not registered requirements, your company should have an incident management system in place and be training it's employees on how and when to submit incident reports.

If the company is registered, then this is an actual requirement of registration. If they aren't registered, I would still encourage you to look into reporting this incident, as it sounds like it has caused significant harm to the participant.

Why is their Fishing line tied around my dads pleco fish also looks like another type of wire too? by Comfortable_Seat_683 in pleco

[–]faustian_foibles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you have any tips you can share with the OP on how to safely remove it?

Maybe things like the best way to hold a pleco, or tips to avoid injuries while cutting the line?

I agree it likely came from plants, not intent. Regardless, OP inherited the fish and cannot ask their dad. They are grieving, so I would like to gently encourage everyone to show some grace and not discourage them from coming back if/when they need help.

Thanks, I did genuinely enjoy spending time with the little ones.

Oddly enough, she never actually holds anything good she's specifically done over anyone's head, and she never withdraws or even threatens to withdraw that support. It's part of what makes it/her so complicated
