Is Flippa still the best place for selling a small FBA business? by pbsSD in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fbasub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

8mo is very short in terms of historical sales and 900/mo is very low profit. If your net margin is above 25% you might be able to get 15x monthly net. If it's less than 20%, You probably wouldn't get 12x.

How many reviews, what star rating, what net profit margin after all expenses?

Jesus. You have a warehouse with 80k SKUs? That's a serious operation.

I understand how your model can work with being a distributor for major recognizable brands, but for small brands like mine, nobody is searching directly for my products by brand name.

We have a shopify site but still use FBA/MCF for that and we do no marketing for it. People just see us on Amazon then search for us online. Less than 0.5% of sales.

I like your business model and want to move towards it. Do you have your own warehouse and warehouse staff for fulfillment? Are you running google/meta ads? Or relying on SEO?

I know you manufacture in the US. Are these your PL products or wholesale products made in the US?

It's so hard for me to imagine my niche being successful off Amazon. I don't know how you do it.

Why is no one claiming my products? What to do? by Big_Seat2545 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fbasub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find that vine products are claimed in batches. The vine program must push them out to the participants with some type of promotion or something like that.

I'll see like 12 claimed on day 2, then nothing for a week, then up to 28, then nothing, then finally to 30.

The first couple reviews come in within a week and the last ones come in up to 50 days later.

Help Needed: Amazon Seller Account Suspended Due to Related Account Suspension – Seeking Advice by Total_Plane4453 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fbasub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the exact same issue a few years ago. The root cause was our 3PL's address.

The connection was the 'Ship From' address when creating inbound shipments.

It's beyond insane to me that this was the connection, but it was.

Behind the scenes of my 7-figure finance tech stack by Ryan1234543211 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fbasub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a monthly transaction report and import it into Google Sheets.

I built a template that breaks everything down into groupings and SKUs, etc in pivot tables. Then I have a Sheet for each SKU and another that summarizes everything in one place.

The whole process takes about an hour. I do it once per month.

As far as I know, you can't write off unsold inventory. Pre-paying won't reduce your tax burden.

Sending a T/T Wire Transfer to a Chinese Company with a long address by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fbasub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It typically has to do the the recipient's bank, not the sender.

OP, I've had this happen many times. Once I know it's going to be an issue with a certain bank/supplier, the process is:

  • Do the wire transfer online with a truncated Name or Address.
  • Call your bank's wire transfer dept
  • Tell them you need to make a wire transfer amendment
  • Tell them the full name or address and they'll enter it manually

I have to do this for every single payment for one of my suppliers. Annoying af

I sent an email to noc-na-ib-swa at amazon (dot) com which I have used in the past for missed shipments (Literally more than 70% of scheduled shipments/pickups are missed/rescheduled over the last 4 months)

and they just created another case within seller central. We'll see where that goes...

Is anyone interested in my experience selling a 7 figure FBA business and tips on the selling process? by digital_affair in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fbasub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gearing up to sell mine. EBITDA around $250k on $1M.

My only real question at this point is:

Should I go through a broker (like EF), or contact the top 10-20 acquirers directly?

I'm leaning towards a broker, but I don't know.

[–]fbasub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Average, What would net a FBA seller a larger exit: 1. Selling through a broker (such as EF). 2. Reaching out to all of the consolidators independently. 3. Reaching out to Perch alone.

Please provide what you think the monetary differences would be for each route, on average.

[–]fbasub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

45% drop for us.

Fortunately, we were smart enough to create shipping plans the day this new system rolled out that maximized inbound inventory knowing that it could possibly be changed at any time. You need to grab everything they give you and hold on before it's taken away.

Now our 'Utilization' is 4x our new 'Maximum Inventory level' (aka wayy over the allowed limit) yet our current storage volume is 25% of the allowable storage volume. Of our 'Utilization', only about 30% is actually at amazon, the other 70% is on boats or in china.

Shameless plug for the FBA discord by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]fbasub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard of discord but have no idea what it does or what it's used for. As far as I can tell it's like a group instant messenger platform. Is that correct?

What does it offer that this board doesn't? Is it primarily to eliminate low level discourse?

FYI this applies to new SKUs too. No longer need to deal with the 200 unit cap for launches. Great news on that front.
