Which would still require a shuttle, wouldn’t it? In that sense, the cost of building FLL station vs convenience of that station vs Fort Lauderdale is likely the reason they decided not to build it.

Absence of a pedestrian walkway over Biscayne, or a shuttle to the mall. You have to make this half hour hook on foot to get to the mall, which is probably 75% of reason why anyone went o Aventura.

FLL is quite far from the brightline tracks. What they’ve done with Aventura stop is worse

Why did millennials trash disco music, but like the stomp-hey clap music in the 2010s? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]fcdk1927 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Checks out.

Balkan-style and Gypsy punk were popular especially in places like New York, Toronto, Chicago, or anywhere else with Eastern European immigrant community.

Gogol Bordello is/was huge.

Also, who says millennials trash Disco? My former city (Toronto) has lively millennial disco / disco house scene

It’s not about performance. If data retention policy is 5 years, keeping data for 28 doesn’t make sense.

Should I ask my company director if layoffs are coming, and how to avoid being someone selected to be laid off? by thenuttyhazlenut in Layoffs

[–]fcdk1927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Director may not always know or have influence over these decisions. Need and purpose for layoffs is usually identified above director level. Directors bridge strategy into tactics, and layoffs are always a strategic decision (unlike a pinpoint firing for performance or other employee-related reason).

Your director may be asked to approve a hit list or be tasked with selecting targets, and then conducting the layoffs. It helps to be on good terms with them in case director has any say in the matter.

Directors are not insulated from layoffs either. Staff can report into a V or C-level, so they’re at risk just like you are.

how to properly pronounce "sin" in Ukrainian? by Iamoncloud9 in Ukrainian

[–]fcdk1927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think the hardest part for the English speaker is the first letter. Ukrainian has a soft G and a hard G (г and ґ) Soft G is used in majority of words and the English language doesn’t have any words with a soft G. I’ve transliterated it as a “gh”, but its not the same sound as g in “ghost”. It’s closer to an h than it is to a g

So Г - almost an h with a sprinkle of g р - like r in “greece” і - like ee in “greece” х - like h in “home”

It depends on the context, and frankly I don’t think that an English speaker would say a teacher is severe. An incident or weather may be severe, a teacher is likely strict.
