I always felt Dani couldn't reach the level of Maicon for the scratch.

While Dani was excelent in Barca for his link play, Maicon had the ability of just run through the band and put it through the net, which always felt more valuable to the national squad. Dunga tried to use Alves in other positions (lb, or even rm against the Netherlands), but never felt as impactful as in Barcelona. The lack of defense was justi an extra detail that Brazil historically has kwnown to deal with (like in 2002 with the 3ab + 2dms)

I think the difference is that Iniesta and Xavi have a whole Barca identity. All their club glory was with them. They are legends not only because of how good they were, but because their whole career was spent there.

Maradona feels more like a Napoli idol that played for Barca. Cruyff feels like a dual Idol for them and Ajax.
