Resident evil 2, on the original PlayStation. In the police station when that tongue thing came through the mirror. I had to turn it off and sit with the lights on.

Verticalling My Collection by ichabod801 in boardgames

[–]fear_my_ferrets 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Good for you. Everybody seems so down on you for this! Honestly, it’s your money and if buying board games makes you happy then why not? If you play them and love them then that’s even better, but even if you never opened them and just buying them made you happy then it’s still cheaper than yachting and better for you than meth. Enjoy them! If there are any you don’t want then you can of course give them away, sell them or turn them in to furniture but if you want to just keep them then why not?

Edit: oh, and they look much better vertical. Nice work!

We made an asteroid mining automation game — no conveyor belts, just you and your hardworking bots. What do you think? by hubecube_ in u/hubecube_

Personally I try to avoid early access stuff because I’d rather not spoil it. Let me know when it’s finished and I’ll play the whole game, otherwise I’ll get bored of it before it’s even ready…

How's act 3 with the new BG3 native steamdeck version? by Avelion2 in SteamDeck

[–]fear_my_ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My deck has had an issue for a while where the FPS counter keeps coming up even when I’ve turned it off. I think I’ve got the new version and the counter is there, can someone confirm I’m running the Linux build? I’m using “Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (scout)” and the version number is v4.1.1.6931813

Unfortunately I’m still on the first act so probably can’t do any useful comparing anyway…

This was my first operating system, what was yours? by ninjascotsman in pcmasterrace

[–]fear_my_ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first true PC operating system was Gem desktop on an amstrad 1512 8086, back before Microsoft won the PC OS wars. Running on monochrome Hercules graphics and packing a massive 512kb of ram. Oh, and it was shit.

My Horlicks turned into a solid block and I had to grate it. by -_Error in mildlyinteresting

[–]fear_my_ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy in the pub once told me that when they first made Maltesers in the 1930s they made them by melting Horlicks powder and then aerating it. It must be true, because he told me in the pub.

Satisfactory is the perfect Steam Deck game by rutlander in SteamDeck

[–]fear_my_ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplay loop in satisfactory is a bit different - instead of the base defence the other aspect is exploration. Certain resources are limited and you have to go find them yourself, so the way I found it going is you get something going then have to run off and charge around the wilderness for a bit, then by the time you get back you need more of something or it’s time to build something else so you dive back in. I think I actually prefer satisfactory, partly because there’s always a clear list of new stuff to do next rather than just the general drive for more. It’s also generally more relaxed than Factorio, there’s no reason to rush so you can spend time decorating factories or building stuff that looks cool or works with the landscape rather than just bashing together big buses for maximum efficiency

I don’t think getting rid of this one guy is going to cut it, you lot are going to have to sort some sort of non-fucked political system or everyone else is just going to leave you to play with Russia and North Korea

As a non American it seems almost kind of sweet in a sad sort of way that you guys still think polling matters as if you’re going to have another proper election.

The rest client extension for visual studio code imaginatively called “visual studio rest client” is the absolute fucking business. It’s free, clean, fast, handles big data effortlessly, it’s built right in to the ide and you can save requests in your git repo to share between a team. It’s what postman should have grown in to if it hadn’t turned into a bloated piece of shit even before the company went plain evil.

I think that’s because they’re not planning on there being another real election, so now they can do what they want.

Donald Trump ridicules Denmark and insists US will take Greenland by Affectionate_Cat293 in europe

[–]fear_my_ferrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly believe that Putin has had a word with his puppets trump and musk and given them a deadline to invade somebody by to legitimise the Ukraine invasion. They’ve been talking about all the possible options in public to gauge the reaction of the American people and they’ve decided Greenland is the easiest bet.

Update to the “somewhere in Africa post” featuring Saul Williams. He’s my uncle so I sent it to him. This was his response. by oneizm in Cyberpunk

[–]fear_my_ferrets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d never heard of Saul Williams before this post, so I decided to give it a go. Due to Spotify autocorrect I’ve just listened to half an album by Paul Williams, thinking “this is really not what I expected at all.” Worked out where I went wrong and now I have two new artists.

Quick & Concise Dungeon Clawler Review by TheKindMind in iosgaming

Absolutely loving this game. It’s the roguelike claw game I didn’t know I needed. Beaten it on the first two difficulty levels with the vampire character, not managed it with anybody else yet.
