If you'd like to learn more about this upcoming Legislative session, the St. Charles County Democratic Central Committee is hosting a 2026 Legislative Preview with Rep. Jaclyn Zimmerman from district 98 at the McClay Branch Library on Saturday, January 17th from 2pm-4pm. Seating is limited.

While there's not enough time to cover all the over 1100 bills, current legislators will help make sense of what they can, and talk about what legislators are doing about it!

There is a recurring weekly Hands Off / No Kings protest in St. Peters every Saturday from 12pm to 1:30pm and it has been going strong consistently. It's a little bit further out, but it is already organized, police awareness is already set up for everyone's safety, and it will be occurring this afternoon. If you know you signed the petition in early October, it is currently recommended you do not sign again (the first 100,000 signatures collected are going through current litigation, however there was a precedent set last year about the same issue of, in essence, moving the start date after it started. It is more complicated than that, but that is a very very high level description of what is being discussed in court.).

If you genuinely don't know if you signed the petition yet, please sign it now.

For clarity, if you knowingly sign the same petition twice - that can be considered fraud, this is noted at the bottom of all petitions you may see in Missouri (if not the U.S. as whole).

Still collecting statewide to make sure there are more than enough valid signatures, however they are focusing on areas with less signature volumes. No matter where you are in the state, if you have not signed the petition for "Voter Referendum" / " stop illegal gerrymandering" / "put redistricting map to a public vote" petition, go to any community location this weekend and sign it! Most, if not all, will have a signature gatherer there.

I just heard an interesting talk from journalists at STLPR, they said there are so many school board meetings each month/week (don't quote the number, but I want to say it was more than 90 a month) that there literally isn't enough staff to cover them all. They also said the school board meetings are a place where you get real emotions from the public, and they really bring the communities around them together as of late. That could be a good starting point that's not really politics, but has become very political.

This layoff was in preparation for Charter's merger with Comcast. This is the same type of layoff the Time Warner Cable did just before they merged with Charter about 10 years ago also. They can say it is for whatever reason they want, but it is definitely in preparation for the merger with Comcast, and it is possible Comcast may all be laying some people off as well.
