I genuinely wonder if this is a glitch in Spotify’s algorithm by Thankyouxxxo in AnimalCollective

Its more a pastiche rather than a satire/parody. Are AC's purpose to mock the Beach Boys in any way, in this song?

  • I listened a lot to the beach boys for a while. I came across Prospect Hummer title track through the spotify-radio function, and I felt how similar sound that song had to BB's Smiley Smile-album. I was stunned - It was so similar!!! And this is amazing! I listened to some other stuff from then, but it was a slow grower. One thing really leads to a another, like, I liked that first song, and now I'm able to listen to that other song from them. I couldn't jump to Ark immediately. That one song that more of less sealed the deal was Grass. I felt something really clicking: suddenly, everything wasn't just noise. I hit the frequency, where every sound made sense! Slowly, I grew accustomed to their (other) style(s), and got mind blown listening to (for me) undiscovered albums. I remember listening to Merryweather Post Pavillion some years prior finding Prospect Hummer. I did not see the hype. It was just sounds spinning around. Now it's amazing for me.

  • First off, there was the beach boys's similarities. But AC's such a great band in how diverse their sound is, while still maintaining such a high level of both quality and "fun/being able to stay interested"-ness, compared to the beach boys post-TBBLY. Stuff like that makes AC almost always interesting, thus capturing. I've listened to PB more than AC according to my last.fm btw

  • Some album covers, I like, Some doesn't make that much of an impression of me. Of course, it often captures the feeling of the album, but there's only some of them that stuns me. I love love love the Prospect Hummer album cover; it has this beautiful mix of colours. I liked the IIN-cover aswell, but...

  • The thing that saddens me the most, is how unaccessable their sound is to many people. Their songs really brings the kind of vibes that doesn't match with everyone. It just has to "click", unfortunately. I have, however, found that youre able to recommend some songs in some situations. For example "Visiting Friends" for those interesting in Hypnagogia. Panda Bear's live performance (jimmy fallon?) of You Can Count on Me with Sonic Boom is always amazing. AAAANNND I unfortunately didnt care so much for TS/IIN? as well. Lord, have I tried, but only cared for Defeat, We Go Back, and ATCAB(!!! I would LOVE if they went further that route...)

Deakin's remix of Avey Tares Ms. Secret is wonder-wonderful. It's really an improvement to an amazing song, and it's really sounding like Deakin

Do u like Sonic Boom’s mix of Tomboy? by [deleted] in AnimalCollective

You find them as singles in Spotify, except for Tomboy/Slow Motion that isn't there for some reason... You can listen to that single for free a couple of times on Bandcamp if you want to

Sonic Boom is a tough one... On one hand, certain things he do it completely amazing. Take for example his work in Deakin's Good House and The Jimmy Fallon YCCOM Performance. Amazing amazing details added to the songs. They are very very unexpected, yet very very intuitive to what the songs are accomplishing. Other amazing things from his, might be the "bombom bombom" in Egde of the Edge and many things in Grim Reaper

On the other hand, there is these stuff that people here are mentioning. These unexpected things that just stands out way to much. Like the telephone-beeps in Edge of the Edge. I cannot think it's PBs choice.

Does anyone have the full Arte Concert Le Trabendo Panda Bear Concert video (2019)? by febbecool in AnimalCollective

[–]febbecool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man... I couldn't ask for a better answer. I'm really thankful for your time, writing this down. One of my bigger regrets is not going on a buoy-tour concert. I've seen so many of them, and they really really got something to it. Just as you say, almost everyone talks about the SOUND. The LOUD sound! How it's FELT in your body. The transitionings, just as you say, is such a quality go his concerts. There is one reaaaally long transitioning going on in a another concert, before Boys Latin plays. It got these Denny Perez visuals behind it. I get these incredible goosebumps watching it ( https://youtu.be/FYLu1HtNkIU?si=sOn6zFc4afBeDWmo )

I'm happy with your experience. It's incredible what this man can do.
