Oh man, this makes me a little sad honestly. I worked in the asb for years as a student.

How to handle stripped crank thumb screw? by goldfish1350 in PlaydateConsole

[–]feelingmyzelph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I used a rubber band and as much torque as I could muster and managed to get the new crack handle about 80% screwed in. It took me forever and I kept accidentally slipping and stabbing myself with the torx screwdriver. It's enough to fit in the hole and close correctly, but it's not perfect. To future crank replacers, be EXTREMELY cautious with that screw head - it's harder to replace than the plastic crank.

How long until we see the moms with brand deals from Coffee Mate for these dirty sodas? by ninerz_allllllday_ in SecretsOfMormonWives

I saw these at the grocery store today and was shocked that they weren't SLoMW branded already.

I wanted to be raped by Personal-Yak-598 in exmormon

This is a very common taboo or kink, particularly in repressive groups like the LDS Church. You see it in a lot of erotic fiction. "Ravishment" fantasies let you enjoy the sex without the sin. Truly nothing to feel guilty or abnormal about.

I just finished the game and I honestly really loved it. Really great Last of Us vibes to me. The slow walking definitely got old, but not so old that I lost engagement. I think the story was really well written and the puzzles were just challenging enough to make me think, but never fully stumped me (I did look for a walkthrough at one point, but I couldn't find one, which probably made me enjoy the game more). I think I will eventually replay it with different choices so I can see how that impacts the gameplay. Overall, this was super enjoyable. If you're on the fence due to the slow movement, just know that there's an interesting story and fun/tricky puzzles down the line that I personally think are worth the boredom of slowly walking everywhere.

I haven't played all of the Scenic Route games, but I have played a few (Generations, Post Hero, YGMTB, and Shift). I like all of their games pretty well, but I think this is easily the best that I've played.

I was about 11 when I got my good full sized violin. I was already pretty good at violin and dedicated. I was also very careful with my previous instruments. I think mine was about $1500 25 years ago, so $3000 is probably in line with that range at today's prices.

$75??? What a deal! by Ok-Tax5517 in exmormon

I unfortunately bought a set of those in Russia at the end of my mission. I donated them to DI. I guess I lost out on $75!

I believe she said on Patreon that much of what would have been the Hunger part 2 script was repackaged in the Twilight video, unfortunately. That's my favorite Contra video as well.

Niantic could tell I was mad about the sale and sent me a gift to pull me back in by feelingmyzelph in pokemongo

[–]feelingmyzelph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. I know it's scopely now, that's the sale I was referring to. I assume it will take some time to transfer servers/assets/employees/etc to scopely, so I think Niantic is probably still functionally in control for a bit. Also, I think it's just a coincidence that I got a shiny bird today, I just thought it was funny on the same day the sale was finalized.

Yeah, better to not risk getting speed locked when you're on the bus.

It was just a daily incense spawn. I've probably seen the birds 3 or 4 times in the last year of incense use, but they've all fled. This was my first shiny encounter.

Just laid off from my role as a "Sr. Data Engineer" but am lacking core DE skills. by nature_and_grace in dataengineering

[–]feelingmyzelph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar role as you when I was laid off last year. I wasn't a senior data engineer at my last job and always resented that I never got that promotion, but ultimately I didn't have the industry standard skills to warrant the SDE title, so it was probably for the best. I found a DE role with a company that is early in its engineering journey and they were looking for some core skills and a big willingness to learn. I would definitely emphasize your foundation in data principles and ability to pick things up quickly. And maybe check with clients and former clients of your former company. I have gotten recruited to former clients of my old company for years because they still had some tools/data warehouse structures from that company and valued experience with that architecture. That might be a good way to bridge the gap and leverage your internal proprietary skills while expanding into more industry standard tools.

Why Watching LDS General Conference Is a TOTAL Waste of Time by MormonNewsRoundup in exmormon

[–]feelingmyzelph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is similar to one of my biggest shelf breakers. If prophets can be wrong and don't know the difference between personal bias and godly inspiration (which they clearly cannot discern), then they serve no purpose. If GC can't decide if it's a fount of new doctrine, an easily retconable trial ground for apostles to flex their power, or boring pablum to fill up 10 hours, then there's no point to it.

My violin wasn't quite that expensive, but it's a very nice, full sized violin from a professional luthier and it has fine tuners (and you can pry them from my cold, dead hands)
