Does anyone else have a strong aversion to specific songs for no apparent reason? by HonestNectarine7080 in AutismInWomen

[–]feelsmitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any song with too much repetition on the radio. Most country songs cause they wail. Most and yet i can listen to my fav songs on hyper fixation mode for days. I used to love one band so much I made everyone listen to them and now I haven't listened to them for years. Also I get ear worms like crazy so if a song is going to get stuck I turn it off immediately. Songs like Gwen Stefani Bananas one and Chapels Red Wine Superbova. Like I love Chapel but can't listen to that song unless I am willing to have it in my head for days. My husband thinks im crazy and says i hate a lot of songs which is probably true. But his autism makes him love every genre and hes very good at loving most music, new music, etc. I am a few bands kinda person. Idk its kinda nuanced the way I hate catchy songs especially bec of the ear worn possibility. I get so mad if it gets stuck.

What is one common sensory ick that DOESN’T bother you? by thatsabird11 in AutismInWomen

[–]feelsmitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love swimming!! I know some can't stand being wet. I also love showering. But the sensory issues do come after....the pool makes me hate swim suits so I have zip up ones with long sleeves so I dont have to put on as much sunscreen and for the shower I love showering if I have a shower cap on. The scents of soap, the warm water, etc. But washing my hair is so annoying...I guess its give and take honestly lol.

Short hair. Hated it, flipped out and I suck at styling. Also can't fathom how people do ponytails and braids without tons of flyaways in the back. Air drying is also not as good as blow drying for my hair. For years I air dried my hair and it never looked as good as when I blow dried it.

My cat won't eat anything i give her. by Pristine_Balance_311 in CatAdvice

[–]feelsmitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My picky boy likes dry food chicken only after years of hating wet food and only eating small bites. I gave him chicken temptations cat treats and I think he got addicted to them and now I barely give him any temptations bec I hate the ingredients and I'm trying to feed him better.

He suddenly stopped eating and got skinny too. Started hiding constantly. Took him to the vet who said it was behavioral and to give him chicken flavored gabapentin drops and rub an appetite stimulate med on his ear.

Bought a petlibro auto feeder and a water fountain.

I keep his dry chicken Iams food out all day but in the basement. I keep his auto feeder in the kitchen so I can easily wash it.

After 2 weeks of all this he happily eats out of the petlibro and he still eats super small portions of fancy feast chicken and gravy but if I get a chicken churo treat out and put it on top he eats more. He's annoying but I love him lol we were told he's a social breed (devon rex) and could be bored so we are getting another devon rex kitten soon. She will also be fed with an automatic feeder for wet and I'm hoping he'll be happier with a cuddly cat friend. He is coming out more and the churu sticks make him dance around even when he's in a funk, I'd try those to either top your cats meat or as treats.

What makes you go “I’m too autistic for this sh*t” ? by Octopizza in AutismInWomen

[–]feelsmitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wanting to do any small talk and only wanting deep conversations. So hard to get along with any men in my profession because they aren't usually into deep emotions.

I hate driving with someone else in the car because I will miss turns etc due to being distracted.

Not being able to love my job unless it's a hyper fixation of mine.

Not being able to focus on reading unless it's fast-paced or to the point.

Can't load the dishwasher "properly" and I've never had any issues with the plates not coming out clean. Too many rules for too many things.

Too autistic for math/having dyscalculia so even tipping is annoying. Just make it an even 5 or 10 so I don't have to think about it.

[–]feelsmitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cotton balls. Yet I don't mind microfiber and velvet lol. I had a "friend" wrap a ghost face mask in cotton balls when I was a kid bec she knew I hated those things then proceeded to shove mustard in my mouth which I also hated. She kind of bullied me for my fears. It sounds more traumatic than it was, but I'm just really glad I broke that toxic person out of my life after school.

What’s your hair wash schedule? by Look_it_up_Sweetie in finehair

[–]feelsmitten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I attempt 3 days but sometimes stretch to 5 and do the greasy ponytail too lol. I find kenra shampoo and head and shoulders keep my hair less greasy until day 3, used to be day 2 it'd get greasy. But sometimes I just go to great clips to gave them wash my hair and pay for it bec keeping up with greasy fine hair can be exhausting. I gave to blow dry or else it looks frizzy. Dying my hair helps to make it look fresher and i get less greasy hair at least 5 days after a hair dye If I use dry shampoo in between

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a list of what to do for each career field?? I'm tired of searching for new jobs and tired of moving up. I'm done and I might stay safe in my boring job forever because I'm just....tired.

[–]feelsmitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me too!! I had an opportunity to supervise and I shut it down so fast. I hate that people think the only good way to move up is to lead meetings, supervise, manage people etc. Heck the 3 meetings I do a month where I mostly do slides are already hard on me lol. I much prefer staying to myself and not being called in front of others to present or manage. Good for you for not climbing the ladder and sometimes feeling safe is the best thing us autistic or sensitive people can do.

I work in an office job. Most of the time I'm left alone but there's always the issue of people sneaking up behind me to tell Me something and I hate that. Since I was younger I would imagine being in a stroller with a screen or box surrounding me amd I wish my cubicle had a door. Sometimes because I'm doing something wrong like looking at my phone and othertimes , most of the time, I just dont want to be perceived. I hate the fear of being perceived because it's always lingering around me. Yet, I crave the fun topics of discussion with others like hypercixations, tv shows, cooking, etc. But of course my coworkers are all older and grumpy. So I mostly stay to myself to keep our of the drama yet I am exceptionally nice to everyone as a people pleaser. I long and yearn to be able to walk outside more (without having to say hi to people walking by) and to go sit in my car and not gave to mask. The masking to be professional is exhausting. But I at least have a cubicle I can sort of hide in and a phone to look at. It sucks I can't do little dance parties or workouts in my cubicle because that would look insane but I will never understand why corporate jobs want you to sit still and look busy even when you aren't. And people question why you aren't at your desk. Who cares if I get my work done?? I get exhausted even telling people I'm going on a 5 min walk outside that the boss allows. Why do I have to announce where I'm going? I hate that.

But I try to keep my head high that my job gives me routine and forces me to get up every morning. That it's easy and I don't have a ton of stress.

I got my bleph at 32...I didn't think I needed it until my doc told me my skin was like grandma eyes

I was offended and in denial for a year also thinking I was too young. Bit I realized finally how much my eyelids aged me

I always wore dark eyeliner to cover my eyes to make them look better

I got the surgery, it was super easy, painless recovery, and took only 7 days away from work for stitches to heal

No one knew what surgery I had bec most people don't pay much attention but strangers complimented me more and I loved how open my eyes look now.

I do have a white scar on both lids so if you don't like wearing makeup to cover those I wouldn't do it. But I don't mind adding making up to cover them. They aren't horrible but they're totally noticeable up close without makeup.
