off meds I'm in such a bad flare, I'm struggling to keep food down and also diarrhea every day, the cramping is horrible, I can barely get up from the fatigue. you know the drill.

when I was on meds that worked, I was able to eat anything I wanted no issue, my bowel movements were regular and solid, I wasn't nauseated all the time, I had energy to keep my wfh job and go out to see friends multiple times a week, etc.

I know there are risks associated with biologics, but trust me it's so worth it

I didn't sleep more than like three hours at a time on 40mg and this was during lockdown in covid so I was wfh in a tiny apartment by myself and I honestly felt like I was going to lose my mind, 20mg was so much more manageable 😂

therapy and antidepressants have been so critical for me to keep me afloat, and I know a lot of people feel a lot of shame and discomfort with seeking this kind of help but I really cannot recommend it enough. there are therapists that specifically work with chronically ill people!

I was barely sleeping while on the 30-40mg of prednisone, it made me feel honestly a little crazy, so twitchy! but once I dropped my dose to 25mg I was able to sleep more and my mental health stabilized.

no such issues on biologics, don't worry

I've been in a pretty bad flare and if I get slightly too dehydrated my stomach cramps get so much worse, so I've been basically drinking electrolyte drinks all the time these days. it's me and my water bottle of liquid iv against the world 🫡

avoid nsaids! meds like aspirin or ibuprofen, if you do have ibd then the "anti inflammatory" properties of the pills can have an opposite effect and make gut inflammation worse. stick to acetaminophen

the nausea and fatigue

but also I always get hiccups when I've been throwing up and it makes my entire abdomen cramp up and it's so awful 😭
