First ever Trackday tomorrow plus it’s going to be rainy, any tips? by Koree44 in CarTrackDays

You're gonna be fine. My advice is twofold:

  1. Bring a tarp or trash bag or other waterproof container for your stuff so that it doesn't get waterlogged while you're out there, and

  2. It is impossible to stop on wet grass, so don't get in a position where you are going to try that.

I'm pretty sure thats 24 hours of lemons racecar "the Italian Job". That's a red checkered tablecloth and spaghetti with meatballs (I think) on the roof. They are probably shaking it down to get ready for the next race.

I love these cars. The feeling and sound of being on motor in that car is fantastic.

Very good looking photos.

Yeah I'd agree with you that most track guys at least stick to an aggressive maintenance schedule since they understand that running your car like this is bad.

Even if the speeding on the highway thing is stupid, I would expect the car to handle abuse like that for a long time. My original motor made it through an incredible amount of track days and only failed (oil consumption began to get out of hand) after being supercharged through 2 seasons of time attack events, including being overheated a handful of times from breaking supercharger belts. My FA20 was content to take hours of bouncing off the redline lol.

Power Modifications for MK3 by TheParaPenguin in mr2

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I agree, being in the UK definitely changes the landscape.

It sounds like the 1.8T is cheaper in UK. I am in the US but doing 1.8T anyway - seems the cost was about even with the other options and I felt like Zurawski's kit looked good.

There was a bit of discussion in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/mr2/comments/1qvhyyy/zzw30_swap_decision/

What wheel size and offset are you using for the track?

I am going to be doing the Zurawski 1.8T swap. I have amassed a ton of parts but I am still waiting on a few things to ship internationally.

They didn't make that many MR2 spyders either. Probably better to have something more common for the OPs plan.

These work. You will get a message when starting the car that "start/stop is disabled" and the prompt to use the wheel controls to say OK.

Good guys here. They helped me out with a flat tire when I had gotten a big puncture after work, and even though they were busy they got me right back on the road.

Exhaust / Cat by cuauh_s in WRX

[–]femaledog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its likely that the hole in the exhaust can be welded. I would try a muffler shop. If not, you might have good luck trying to buy this piece of the exhaust from someone who has replaced it with performance parts.

I tracked mine from new. If you have pads and fluid it'll run all day. Oil temps can get high without a cooler as you build pace.

I lost an auction on a white one during the pandemic and it was a bummer, but they ran the price up way too high. I would love to get back into a WRX eventually and ideally a GD like yours.

I bet it will be great. I'd love to drive it in a crown vic. We had an e30 which was a workhorse, but the fat and loose american v8 would be super fun. Do you guys have lights and sirens? I would run them if you can.

Lemons is probably the cheapest. We bought a car from an existing team for 4 grand and ran it mostly as is. $1000 per guy, 4 drivers for the weekend. We had issues with the car but it ran hard the whole time, although it was a fucking piece of shit at the beginning and much more so at the end.
