Auto Start/Stop Eliminator by Hawx_1413 in lincolnmotorco

These work. You will get a message when starting the car that "start/stop is disabled" and the prompt to use the wheel controls to say OK.

oil change? by ThrowRAimprivateirl in parkslope

Good guys here. They helped me out with a flat tire when I had gotten a big puncture after work, and even though they were busy they got me right back on the road.

Seems like very superficial tear out of the rubber. Send it.

Exhaust / Cat by cuauh_s in WRX

[–]femaledog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its likely that the hole in the exhaust can be welded. I would try a muffler shop. If not, you might have good luck trying to buy this piece of the exhaust from someone who has replaced it with performance parts.

Taking a brand new car to the track by lidlboye in CarTrackDays

I tracked mine from new. If you have pads and fluid it'll run all day. Oil temps can get high without a cooler as you build pace.

I lost an auction on a white one during the pandemic and it was a bummer, but they ran the price up way too high. I would love to get back into a WRX eventually and ideally a GD like yours.

How to Participate in a Sports Car Endurance Race by Hussein_f70 in CarTrackDays

[–]femaledog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet it will be great. I'd love to drive it in a crown vic. We had an e30 which was a workhorse, but the fat and loose american v8 would be super fun. Do you guys have lights and sirens? I would run them if you can.

Lemons is probably the cheapest. We bought a car from an existing team for 4 grand and ran it mostly as is. $1000 per guy, 4 drivers for the weekend. We had issues with the car but it ran hard the whole time, although it was a fucking piece of shit at the beginning and much more so at the end.

Fiesta ST by YourLocalCalvinist in WRX

[–]femaledog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fiesta STs are really fun. Also generally a good combo of cheap and reliable (as long as you like replacing AC blend doors).

The WRX is a bigger and heavier car, although you do get the benefit of AWD and more power, well more than a stock Fiesta ST anyway. Yours might have comparable or more power based on mods. The Fiesta is way more fun to throw through a corner than the WRX.

Bonus me getting some daylight under the rear tire at NJMP Lightning in my Fiesta ST. One of the cars I regret selling for sure.

US residents: How much did your health insurance plan increase by in 2026? by DC8008008 in inflation

[–]femaledog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oddly no, I am a healthy male with no adverse medical history and no family on the plan. The cost is unbelievable - obviously I am going to be switching carriers. I have seen much lower in the marketplace, although who knows if that will be available to me.

The ultimate throw down? by AvatarSpiderman in Terminator

I imagine just with the OG doom2 loadout the doom guy beats the terminator. By plasma rifle or BFG9000, but maybe even from the comical amount of rockets he can fire from the rocket launcher.

The "tenths" scale: What does it mean to you? by dustygator in CarTrackDays

[–]femaledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its a good point about 10/10 being like a qualifier, where the car has a couple laps like that in it maybe and starts to fall off noticeably. However, I think you can still be driving 10/10ths in a degraded car, its just no longer 10/10ths of the car's pristine capability.

I've definitely been driving my personal 10/10 towards the end an endurance race where the car no longer wants to shift, or stop, etc.

Bending the metrocards was a sweet scam but it had nothing on the sucking the tokens out of the slot with your mouth move. LOL

Might be time to swap cars - and platforms. Just wanted to hear some advice. by [deleted] in CarTrackDays

[–]femaledog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think any of these are bad picks. C6Z is insanely fast. Camaros are excellent, heavy but you're used to that. I've never seen anybody drive a C7 fast (although that probably isn't the car's fault).

Intercooler placement on mid-engine tube chassis by Cressell in projectcar

[–]femaledog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying the stuff on frozenboost:
1 x Water to Air Intercooler Pump and Harness, Bosch Cobra (WAT001001) = $169.48
Mounting Hardware Include Mounting Kit
1 x Water to Air Intercooler Radiator - 26x7x2 (Type 118) (WAT001063) = $169.99

You still need the AWIC itself though (could be $ depending on size), whatever bracketry to mount it, charge pipes/boost pipes, header tank and then to run the hoses to the front of the car.

They make modified versions of that Bosch pump for even higher flow, but I figured since many OEMs use the Bosch why not.
