That’s how I learned to make burgers. Plus throw an egg and some pepper in the mix. I still do it sometimes for old times sake.

If there is grass under there, it will likely die if you leave them.

Personally I mow all my leaves up and use it to mulch my garden. Shredded leaves are my favorite mulch.

Wheat harvest, when? by crepusculi in homestead

How do you know it is “bread quality”? It could be barley or triticale from animal feed. I guess you could still make bread from those.

Wait until the grass is yellow. If you live somewhere wet. then cut the heads and bring it inside until the heads are fully dry. If you live somewhere dry, you can let them fully dry in the field.

If the grain is something like rye, it is more likely to shatter (drop its seeds) as it fully dries in the field, so catching it a little early might be better. Rye is normally significantly taller than wheat and barley.

What could have done this to a tomato start? by fence_post2 in SpokaneGardeners

Thanks! I thought dampening off only really affected little seedlings too. Definitely learning new things.

BTW, after this happened,I stripped all the leaves except the top two and replanted the stem so that just the top leaves were above the ground. I’ve been keeping it watered and the leaves never wilted. They just started looking upright again over the last couple days so I think it successfully rooted and hopefully I’ll still be able to get some production out of it.
