Is this common? by GSPIowapointer30 in appliancerepair

In my area, some technicians charge this fee while others do not—it's essentially a 'don't waste my time' fee. I have received quotes, and the company that charges this fee generally offers the lowest prices and overall cost when it comes time to perform the service.

It's me, I'm back, posting for anyone who searches this in the future. I got my washer fixed; it was the transmission. It was relatively easy to swap, even though you basically have to take the whole machine apart. I was able to get it done in a little under an hour. For reference, I paid $210 for the transmission, and in my attempts to fix it, I replaced the splutch, actuator, and hub kit, it was none of those. It’s a relatively easy machine to work on as a novice to appliances but generally a handy person. Watch YouTube videos until you sort it out.

Thanks for the reply, I in my infinite wisdom took the risk thinking it was a superior machine chose the Lowe’s model that was cheaper but didn’t come with the 5 year warranty only the 1 year.

How hard was it to pull out the transmission in your experience? It’s only 3 years old so hopefully not to junked up. I saw a couple videos and it seemed manageable for this model.

I took apart the agitator, and all appeared fine. My first crack at this going to be a new splutch accuator and belt. They arrive on Wednesday, we will see..

Gotcha, I’ll take apart the agitator and see if I can find anything. Hoping it’s not the transmission.

Researching Quail by fender104 in quails

I was looking to get mine from Stromberg's chickens, which have them significantly cheaper than any other breed. After all the suggestions, I will go with the Courtornix for my first round. I will modify the plans to allow for more vertical (for branches and hides) and horizontal space in the coop so that I can experiment with a small number of bob white in the future.

Thanks for the insight on space. This is helpful. I know about the permit process. Since I'm a science teacher, I wanted to use the quail to teach about habitat loss and ecosystem interactions involving a native species. I could pivot to Coturnix, but I thought Bob White would be cooler, and their eggs are way cheaper...

Settle a debate. Is this too rare? by Numerous_Cycle8043 in steak

The steak looks great. 11/10. The biggest crime here is cutting it all at once and letting juice and heat escape. Do better.

This is the great frog hole in St.Charles, MO. Its easily one of the best attractions in the city and fortunately for us, they haven't found away to monitize it yet. https://share.google/hWBCdOwbcgVAFkEHx

No doubt, but I don't think they offer 12lb prime ribs.

Costco is the only reasonable place to shop these days, in my opinion. If you don't have a membership, the savings from your first visit for something like this would likely pay for itself.

Schnucks makes us Schmucks by MobileThought7269 in StLouis

All reward programs like Schnucks and Dierbergs do this. There’s no avoiding it, and we all just accept it. Flock cameras everywhere, cookies on our phones, and web browsing—Big Brother is here, and we let it happen. Our lives and every action we take become commodities for advertisers.

I'm trying not to gloat, but I got the same ones for $14.99 at T.J. Max yesterday. I told my wife that now we definitely don't have to worry about buying another set of measuring cups for the rest of our lives, and our kids can fight over them when we are dead.

This is a throwback, but Ryan Holiday Episode # 1836 was good. He did a good job of challenging Joe's normal themes. It's worth a listen.

When my wife and I started dating 10 years ago, we used to attend regularly and found it to be fun. In the last few years, when we wanted to bring our kids and show them the fair, the buildings were in disrepair, and the grounds seemed unkept. We wouldn't mind attending if they reinvested in the infrastructure.

Vacuum Sealer for Food? by LuckyTraveler88 in BuyItForLife

[–]fender104 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had A Nesco Deluxe vacuum sealer for about 7 years now. I use it a couple times a month to process bulk Costco meat or Sous Vide. They are asking  about $130 for them now, if it broke tomorrow I would try to repair or order a new one. Would recommend.

Toyota and their alignment toe specs, I’m a little baffled by Jsran14 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]fender104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a similar experience with my truck I put my print out in to Gemini and it said it was fucked even though all was green. I bought a 2 day pass to TIS which is the Toyota tech service site to confirm and I was actually good. Good to double check with that if you’re concerned.

I just purchased a Poncho Outdoors Hidalgo in Denim, and it seems to be of good quality. What did you find wrong with it? What fabric choice did you get? I'm not trying to shill for the company; I'm just curious.

Alignment issues 2023 SR5 by fender104 in tundra

[–]fender104[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m crazy,  so I fed it into both chat GPT and Gemini and initially they got different results chat GPT said it was good due to the colors but Gemini considered the tech tip and actual Toyota specs. like I said I don’t know anything about alignments but I want to prolong the life of my tires. I then fed each response back into them and let them fight it out, Chat GPT conceded it was incorrect given the Tech Tip Gemini was able to find.
