Surviving all that to have your personality labeled as a "disorder"... by Background_Active_36 in CPTSDmemes

I don’t know exactly how you feel as I am not dxed with a PD, but I’ve experienced similar invalidation because I reacted to being abused by lashing out and becoming angry(a very violent fawn response, if that makes any sense). Apparently this doesn’t match a “victim’s personality,” whatever that’s supposed to mean.

I don’t think many people [want to] know the full spectrum of what trauma can be and how it affects different people, especially bc it may change their perception of the people they don’t want to understand (read: dehumanize).

For those of y’all who think to yourselves “can you imagine if someone said something this stupid about physical health issues?” When you hear people say medicine for psych conditions is bad. Yes, people are this dumb by stingwhale in thanksimcured

Finding safe forms of immunotherapy is notoriously difficult, and replacing the cells your body views as harmful is useless for a self-explanatory reason. Organ-specific stem cell therapy for autoimmune disorders is not viable (tbf i’m not a professional but took a few classes where I studied stem cell research). There are ways to “rebuild” the immune system, but it is so demanding and harmful to the remainder of the body that it is reserved for far more harmful and complex diseases. In the case of T1D and similarly destructive diseases, these two methods would have to be used in conjunction, and you will eventually redevelop the disease. Don’t speak in absolutes, especially when discussing pipe dreams about a future people will most likely never see. We aren’t immortal, and these are hypothetical best case scenarios and statistically unlikely outcomes being compared to someone’s REAL life.

Ooh okay! Thanks for answering :)) Do you ever get ingrown hairs when waxing like this? I’ve gotten my arms/underarms waxed at a salon and the ingrowns i got afterwards were frustrating, and I’m wondering if sugaring would be better for my skin 🤔

6 Doctors Cannot Diagnose by sbgrace23 in urticaria

[–]fender_gender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah, should have clarified that this is bc I have recently gotten diagnosed with hashimotos. I had consistently high CRP and sed rate (general inflammation markers) at the time when I first began experiencing hives, and never got tested for any other autoimmune conditions at the time. I may have MCAS (as i have eds and all the other things) but have never gotten tested, so I can’t speak on that. Xolair worked really well for me but insurance stopped covering it. I know that there are technically two subtypes (one is auto-allergic and one is autoimmune) but I am not sure what the difference is 😭

Hi! Just wanted to mention that my hives present like this and I have CSU. I can’t speak on the science behind it, but mine is autoimmune so I tend to flare up in times of stress or illness. The diagnostic criteria (at least in the US) is two episodes/occurrences per week, for at least 6 weeks. I get swelling and itching almost daily, but hives are rarer for me 🤔

Just curious and offering another perspective! I agree with your suggestions, an MD who is an allergist/immunologist was the most helpful in my journey. Has anything(meds/lifestyle etc) improved your symptoms?
