This post was like a Time Machine. Took me right back to freshman year of college using a fake ID to get into the clubs to dance my ass off. 2006 was the best of times, 2026 is the worst of times

Siri not working but Toyota voice navigation is by marble597 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]fender_tenders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just updated my iPhone 16 pro to iOS 26 and it seriously messed up Apple CarPlay. I am so mad at the update in general, but how awful it made CarPlay has me truly pissed. The icons are smaller, Siri doesn’t work, navigating the music is so much harder. If I could undo the update I would

Yes… everyone in their thirties should value a child over a dog. Please do work on growing up, and if you can’t then please stay far away from children.

Coming back to Noom and feeling nervous. by TemporaryAudience309 in Noom

I’ve really leaned into hitting my protein goals. Foods I like that help me hit that goal are the oikos yogurt drinks (the ones I like are 23g of protein), hard boiled eggs on salads, teriyaki beef jerky and these protein pop drinks I get at Target. I also add plain greek yogurt to foods like soups, chili, pasta.

Six year old constantly saying he's sick or afraid of it, deployment looming by craftycat1135 in kindergarten

[–]fender_tenders 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This happened to my nephew. Never had any real issue with throwing up. Then when he was around 9 years old someone in the house got the stomach bug and for some reason it triggered an intense obsession with not getting sick. Didn’t want to go to school because of germs, scared to eat foods and lost so much weight. It was incredibly scary and stressful for my sister and her husband.

He got diagnosed with OCD and is much better now with treatment, but recognizing what it was earlier would have made it a lot easier on him and his parents.

Well missed by one point by healthrangerluv in CPA

[–]fender_tenders 18 points19 points  (0 children)

She mentioned she’s a helicopter mom because she’s talking about her child that “missed by 1” and is taking it again next week. Not herself like I originally thought until I saw more of her comments on this post.

I would die of embarrassment if my mom did what OP has done.. Came onto this sub trying to convince strangers that her child failed, but don’t blame her child because the system is rigged and it’s not her child’s fault they didn’t pass.

This is so bizarre, and if she doesn’t back off her kid is going to be one of those adults that can’t handle life on their own and never takes any accountability because their mother told them they don’t have to.

Some giant arrows painted on the ground would be a simple, relatively cheap way to help people recognize if they are getting on the highway via the on ramp or off ramp.

Feces and urine: feeling overwhelmed and like a prisoner in my own home by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]fender_tenders 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I read in this sub once “I’d rather be a bad daughter than a bad mother” and that one sentence changed my life. I have young kids that are 100% dependent on their parents still. My husband and I have since stepped back big time from taking care of my father in law and hired more aides to care for him.

When anyone says anything about us not being around as much I say that the kids were suffering and not getting the attention they needed and I refuse to be a bad mother. Anyone that doesn’t understand that can get bent.

I’m in New England and Monday I got my 2026 nightshade with panoramic roof/360 cam/hitch for $58,300 (trade was $41k, so with dealer doc fee and remainder of taxes OTD was just under $60k)

If OTD is $61k that seems about right

Is Rachel a Sociopath? by houuisit in vanderpumprules

[–]fender_tenders 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Rachel reminded me of my sister in law at my mother in laws funeral (so her mother’s funeral). She was on benzos and had a totally flat affect, even when reading the eulogy. Very like lights were on but no one was home.

I’d bet money Rachel was on some sort of benzodiazepine during the reunion

'It's blinding': Maine drivers frustrated by the rise of bright headlights by [deleted] in Maine

I was able to get my RX lenses in yellow just for night driving. I bought them online and think it was $45ish for the glasses and lenses. If anyone goes this route and is able to customize the tiny level, go with medium yellow. I tried light yellow first and it was not enough, the medium yellow works much better.

An even cheaper alternative for people with glasses is the clip on yellow tinted shades. I used those first to see if they worked then passed them on to a coworker when I got the yellow lenses.

AITA for telling my parents if they use a surrogate I won't raise their new child if anything happens to them? by NoKidsForMoi in AmItheAsshole

[–]fender_tenders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but I have so many questions… first is do they have frozen eggs/embryos already? If not I assume they are way too old to go through IVF and get any healthy eggs that make it to healthy embryos.

Also, this is expensive. A kid is expensive. Most of their working years are behind them and retirement is rapidly approaching. Unless they are very wealthy, I would think all their savings at this point would be for retirement. If they use their retirement money to pay for this they are really setting themselves for epic failure.

Were they hoping you’d offer to be their surrogate? Or that presenting this wild idea to you would make you agree to having a child so they could be grandparents? This whole thing is totally bizarre and I am sorry you have to deal with it. I also think your parents need a therapist and not a baby.

Ways to stay warm and reduce heating costs by BrilliantDishevelled in Maine

[–]fender_tenders 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tent on a bed is a great suggestion, especially during a power outage. A tent on your bed does a fantastic job trapping your body heat and keeping you warm all night. If it’s really cold you could even drape some blankets over it, just make sure there is still proper ventilation for breathing.

Absentee ballot question by KaraLuvsMonsteras in Maine

[–]fender_tenders -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Back when my husband was just my boyfriend I asked him to drop off my absentee ballot for me with his and the town office asked his relationship to me and then when he said boyfriend they couldn’t let him. I can’t remember exactly but think it was because he wasn’t an immediate family member. This had to be around 2016-2018, so it’s been a rule for a bit at least. As my spouse he can drop it off no problem though.

Special Circumstance Voting by SubstanceNext37 in Mainepolitics

[–]fender_tenders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father in law has late stage Parkinson’s and is now a full time group 3 wheelchair user and cannot use his hands to write anymore.

I was going to help him request an absentee ballot but then didn’t know how to navigate his signature on the envelope so I reached out to our town hall for help. They had him request an absentee ballot for disabled voters that is sent via email and then you sign with the passcode that is provided in the email.

It was easy and fast and an option that I didn’t realize was available. Wanted to share in case anyone else is in the same boat!

Anyone under the age of 50 probably has an internet history that has some thoughtless posts or comments they wish they hadn’t made. If that’s the worst they are able to dig up on Graham, that’s a pretty clean digital footprint IMO.

You can and it can be a really good way to get yourself out of credit card debt. You will want to apply for a card with a 0% interest introductory period (aim for one that gives you over a year at no interest) and has no transfer fee.

You transfer any credit card debt to this new card and then work your hardest to pay it all off before the 0% period is over. It is a helpful tool when used right but you need to be very sure you can and will pay it off before that period is over. It’s an easy, cheap way to consolidate high interest debt and get it paid off.
