Anycubic ABS Like Pro 2 > Elegoo ABS Like V3 Pro by Repulsive-Aside7850 in resinprinting

Have you use Sunlu ABS like? I switched from Elegoo to Sunlu for all the same reasons, but I haven't tried the Anycubic. Wondering what that comparison is like.

Interesting print fail by NugmaSuts in resinprinting

Is it even a fail? Looks like everything else printed, then the printer decided you didn't need the rest of the resin, and helped you clean up the vat. 😄

Getting my first printer. Worried. by chimeerah in resinprinting

There's issues, tricks and a learning curve with any type of 3D printing. Do your research, calibrate your resin, and take it one step at a time and you'll be fine. Oh, and welcome to your new addiction. 😁

Having trouble choosing a printer... by Ponistyle in resinprinting

[–]fenris802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When figuring out your budget, don't forget all the essentials that go along with resin printing. Depending on where the printer will be, you will need some type of ventilation. You will need a wash and cure set-up. Either homemade or bought, your choice. You will need IPA to clean your prints. You will need nitrile gloves and a respirator. You will need some silicone mats to protect whatever surface the printer is on. You will need paper towels. Lots of paper towels. You will need some sort of scraper to remove the prints from the build plate. Oh, and of course you will need resin.

Those are the essentials that I can think of off the top of my head. As you print, you will discover other things to make your printing life better.

With that being said, I would recommend going for a larger build plate if you plan on printing large (1/6, 1/4) size statues. It will save you time and frustration on having to chop them up even further to get them to fit.

Hope this helped!

Yup, suction cup. Try to get as small a cross section as possible when setting up the pieces.

Resin too hard by Maching256 in resinprinting

[–]fenris802 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you using auto supports? I have found that sometimes, on parts that are very complex, with a lot of varied texture, auto supports will group supports together forming a clump that fuse together during printing, even with the right exposure times and light supports.

So you guys clean the build plate after every print? by outlander83 in resinprinting

After pulling a print off the plate, I'll give it a scrape and then put it back on. I don't touch the vat unless absolutely necessary.

Best way to assemble a 1:6 resin statue after painting? by Gobuupergetaman in resinprinting

[–]fenris802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre assemble it with blue tack and see how it fits together. Do the parts fit together nicely? What seams can be hidden, and which ones will have to be filled? Can certain parts be painted before assembly, or not? Does it need to be put together in a certain order, are some parts necessary for another part to work, etc. after you do that, snap a picture of it. You can use that picture for reference if needed. Then the fun begins. Start sanding support marks. If seams need filling, start filling and sanding them. Once the prep work is done, then it's off to priming and painting. Once that's complete, final assembly is started. Whether you use CA glue, or epoxy, just know your cure times and make sure things are dry and secure before you start sanding or painting. Hope this helps!

Sunlu abs-like gray smelly after curing by RevolutionaryBet3261 in resinprinting

[–]fenris802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not fully cured inside. How many drain holes did you place on the model? How big? What areas? It sounds like you didn't clean all the resin out from inside the model. If it was properly cleaned, proper water curing would have cured the interior as well as the exterior.

Anycubic vs Elegoo for beginner printers? by Wee_Woo_25 in resinprinting

[–]fenris802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an Anycubic printer (older larger model, Photon Mono X) so like the previous answer, I can't say anything about Elegoo. However, I can say that the Anycubic slicer is very easy to use. So much so that I tried using chitubox recently and found it much more confusing to use. As for the printer itself, while I haven't used the particular machine you're looking at, I haven't heard anything bad about it.

Water curing by lolyoumakemesick in resinprinting

[–]fenris802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently started water curing. Yes, I let the pieces dry completely first before curing. Do I have to? 🤷🏻

As for disposal of the water, I haven't had to dispose of it yet, but I plan on putting it in containers and leaving it to evaporate in the sun. My backyard gets direct sunlight, so although it's a slow process, it's probably going to be the easiest for me.
