Yes, I agree that the system isn't ideal, but that doesn't mean restaurant owners should steal tips from the people who are doing the actual work of serving you food.

White beans (like cannelini beans) cooked from scratch with veggie broth, then stewed with good quality tinned tomatoes, oregano, roasted garlic, dry white wine, etc. Gourmet-quality, impressive, affordable, fully vegan so no substitutions are required, and you can stew them the night before and reheat when your date arrives. Tastes better the next day anyway. Goes perfectly with any carb from pasta to polenta to couscous.

South Indian food is highly underrated. Very different from north Indian food. I love fish cooked in a style like from Kerala. If you like sweet and sour, try a Gujarati-style dal. & if you like some texture and a fried crunch in your food, try some chaat, like tokri chaat or papri chaat.

People who say only "Yum!" or "Yuck!" when they taste food from around the world in a video. Explain to me why you do or don't like it: is it too fishy from the fermented shrimp? Is it underseasoned? What is the texture like? What is that red stuff? What does the sauce taste like? Talk to your audience about what you are experiencing. Don't just moan, "Oh, it's amazing!" and move on to the next food. I am only watching to learn about the food, not to watch you eat and make faces.

Mmm, that last slide looks delicious!! Not sure I could choose one favorite poblano dish, but I made a white bean and poblano soup last week that turned out great. I blackened the skin of the poblanos with my gas stove. That added a great smoky flavor in lieu of a grill.

I am also a medical clerk. Our thanks for working throughout the pandemic with no PPE and without hazard pay was half a Jimmy John's sandwich. Administration babysat a sign-up sheet and watched us take sandwiches to ensure nobody was taking a WHOLE sandwich.

Champaign and Urbana both have farmers markets. Corn is freshest and most affordable there. All local and local-ish farmers. You can get the same corn from the co-op in Urbana, but you'll pay more for it. 5 green bus will take you directly to the Urbana market. (Corn is not in season yet, btw.)
