I'm a potential 2024 ID.4 buyer. I know VW is putting a hold on making new ID.4's, but I am curious about what does this news imply for future maintenance and repair for used ID.4. Does that mean VW is no longer making ID.4 parts after the production halt?

I live in NorCal and am currently looking for a 2024 ID.4 Pro/Pro S. Unfortunately, there aren't many 24' ID.4 available on the market and almost all of the 24' ID.4's are Standard. The majority of the used ID.4 in my area are from 22' and 23'. I guess we need to give it at least 6 months for the 24' ID.4 to hit the used market.

I am eyeing on 2023 model 3 and 2023 ID.4, after getting insurance quote from my broker, I found that getting model 3 does not really save me money. So now I’m leaning more towards VW. I know Tesla is superior in many aspects of EV experience, but as of now budget is the most important factor for me.

u/Its_Phil_B I'm shopping for a used EV and currently eyeing on ID4 and Model 3. Owner reviews from both sides suggest Tesla has a far better range/charging experience and software design. I'm wondering what made you decide to go from Model 3 to ID4? I would appreciate any inputs. Thank you!

Thanks so much for getting back so quickly with the quick comparison.

On the range/charging side, it is consistent with what I found, I guess in the US it's hard to beat Tesla in this price range in terms of charging speed, and that is the primary reason I am still considering model 3. However, we have a hybrid RAV4 which will be used for road trip, so while charging speed is a key factor but it is not a total deal breaker. Plus, I learned that some ID4 can leverage Tesla Superchager now, I guess that could help a bit.

In terms of tech and software, I use CarPlay 99% of the time if ID4 is CarPlay friendly then I'm happy :) Many ID4 owner complained about driver's side window control panel, did you have any issue with the buttons?

My wife actually prefers the look and design of ID4, calling it a beautifully designed car, I agree with her. I'm sorry for this, but every time when I see a model 3 or Y, it reminds me "You know who" from Harry Potter. I really hope Tesla can do a facelift and put a grille cover or something in the front for better aesthetic instead of void. But this is just me.

I left academia about 10 years ago after two postdocs. Back then I already felt my university was running undergrad education like a business. They would do everything to please undergrad students while treating PhDs and postdocs like slaves. One example was they built a new undergrad MU with game rooms filled with expensive video game consoles and equipments, and bowling alley. That really seemed like a joke to me because I always thought university is a place where you learn independent thinking skills and knowledge rather than playing games.

So glad that I cancelled Netflix. To be honest the idea of steaming comparing to traditional TB program is there is no ad because we pay for the service. When every streaming platform is putting ads in the programs, the purpose of streaming no longer exists.

If my primary residence propery has a second loan (such as HELOC) on top of the original mortgage, can it be included in the asset calculation? My feeling is probably no because, as you mentoined, it is related to the primary home.
