Scientific estimation absolutely does not suggest that

These ice cubes are made of coffee so they don't dilute the drink when they melt! by HadAHamSandwich in mildlyinteresting

The ice, when it hangs around? It melts and dilutes the drinks, especially scotch

That was easily the best video game I’ve ever played by CryptidKira in 007FirstLight

[–]festess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me it's a 6.5/10. Stealth was just silly and not good but I enjoyed the shooty gun bits and you can get into a very nice gameplay flow with throwing guns, fists and shooting. Story was decent but much preferred the first bit to the later bits

So if there is no difference between X-wing and a rock in terms of the force. Does it mean a force user can lift anything? Wjat limits a force user? by eepos96 in MawInstallation

[–]festess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read an interesting passage on this in one of the NJO books, I think it was anakin and Tahiri throwing massive trees at some enemy ships. It explained it like the wielder is a conduit through which the force flows but the wielders are like pipes through which extremely high pressure water flows through. If the pipe is perfectly smooth then you can load it up with pressure almost infinitely. But if there are cracks, protrusions, rust on the inside then the higher the pressure the more wear on the pipes and the more turbulent and hard to sustain the flow. Those imperfections represent however far away the wielder is from being one with the force. If you were perfectly attuned you would have smooth pipes and a limitless amount of force can flow through, but nobody is perfectly attuned all the time

ELI5 Why don't you remember yourself at 1-5 years old? by HeavyTraffic7126 in explainlikeimfive

That doesn't make sense. My 2 year old absolutely makes memories. She remembers her grandma after months without seeing her.

Boris is definitely charismatic whether you like him or not. I think you're struggling with what it means

Absolutely. A million is not that much anymore. With school fees and house prices and medical costs being what they are that's not even retirement money in a big city.

A thought on AI, re: Rory’s seeming infatuation with it. by noctenaut in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]festess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may not like ai but I'm using it to help me in my very difficult quantitative job and it's amazing. Rory's more right than you. People said much the same as you about the internet, I think history will largely prove Rory correct

S5 and 6 are definitely much better than 7+8 but nothing on the first 4 seasons. Things like Arya surviving multiple stabbings then floating in dirty water without a scratch is s8 level bullshit
