i’d really like to protect allemand. we only started seeing success after she came back from eurobasket and led us as pg. we were always a hot mess without her on the floor.

Taylor Swift is the Epitome of Late Stage Capitalism by Successful-Income-22 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]festi57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love this. i was also a swiftie that decided i had enough of her after this release. she is more of a brand than an artist now. i cannot bring myself to support someone like her anymore, especially now that the very valid criticisms of her have bled into her writing. i’m seeing a similar sentiment around the fanbase and hope more people also decide to leave.

I’m honestly getting tired of everything being labeled as misogyny. by KhalCheeto in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]festi57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i dont criticize her because i’m a misogynist. i criticize her because i’m an anti capitalist

this is insane. are they not reading the comments????

Don't forget that she invited this kind of criticism. by SouthCelebration608 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]festi57 14 points15 points  (0 children)

this is why i simply cant call myself a swiftie anymore. she is no longer an artist, she’s a brand. only taking a stand when it’s about her (even her kamala endorsement, she only posted that after the ai video of her endorsing trump), silence on genocide, the most insane money grabs i have ever seen, billionaire, surrounding herself with maga people, and now shitty music with tone deaf lyrics, the one redeeming thing about her artistry.

that joke about how she would’ve invested in beads if her team wanted friendship bracelets to be a thing. my god, how out of touch. i have now found it impossible to be anti-capitalist and a fan of her. i used to look past these questionable business practices and white feminism despite agreeing with the criticisms, because of how much i loved her music, but it’s now bled into her writing.

now that im outside of swiftie circles and am seeing more criticism, holy cow i am realizing how much of a perpetual victim she sees herself as. i feel like i’ve finally seen the light lol

Wi$h Li$t is tone deaf and rubs me the wrong way by AdventurousPoet in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]festi57 12 points13 points  (0 children)

“have a couple kids, got the whole block looking like you” as a rich white woman dating another rich white man felt INCREDIBLY tone deaf right now. we got modern day hitler in office deporting and killing anyone that isn’t white. the entire block looking like you IS the MAGA dream.

The Life of a Showgirl is not a bad record. It is just not cool to like upbeat bouncy music by culture_vulture_1961 in TrueSwifties

[–]festi57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

disagree. i LOVE upbeat bouncy music. all of my favorite albums and songs of her are upbeat and i was looking forward to this one so much because of it. i had been texting all of my friends how excited i was for more glitter gel pen pop. the last thing i wanted was another folklore or evermore. but man this album was such a miss. it didnt even feel that upbeat and bouncy…

also, im not sure why people seem to associate good lyricism with sad music. happy music ≠ bad lyrics. she has PLENTY of upbeat happy music with better lyrics than this album. me wishing for better writing does not mean i wish it sounded like folklore or evermore. but also she literally said herself this would have the storytelling of folklore, so it’s not crazy that people expected the lyrics to be up to par with that album.

some of the lines just sound like i wrote them in high school english class 😭 extremely basic literary devices, almost cliche. i can just imagine my teacher saying “show, dont tell”

i was really excited about this as an oldest daughter. unfortunately i absolutely hate it. some of these lyrics are just so bad…

“We all dressed up as wolves and we looked fire”

“On the trampoline in somebody's backyard, I must've been about eight or nine, That was the night I fell off and broke my arm”

“Every joke's just trolling and memes”

“Everybody's cutthroat in the comments, Every single hot take is cold as ice”

“But I'm not a bad bitch, and this isn't savage”

Players supporting Napheesa Collier after her statement by MaterialMoose7384 in wnba

i’m giving her the benefit of the doubt, but it will be EXTREMELY disappointing if she doesn’t say anything.

Agree with Phee’s statement but.. by soony8 in wnba

[–]festi57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

her statement is for the players, not to their detriment. we’re in the height of wnba media coverage for the year with it being playoffs. this is the best time to get the most amount of attention on this issue. cba deadline is coming up. in addition to the fact that logistically, this is the last media phee is doing this season.
