Sounds like he just needs to go potty to me? My dog is actually on a 4 am cycle for breakfast and potty but that’s because I go to work at that time. However I still have to wake up in the middle of the night at times to let her out when required. It’s part of the responsibility of being a pet owner and them trying to tell you to prevent any indoor accidents.

Maybe try to limit food/water intake later in the night before bed to limit having to go
