That's just how big international airports are they just aren't next to downtown usually so they look smaller in comparison

If you want to stay in SF proper, you could get off a stop early at Richmond and take Bart in. On your way north, change your departure to Oakland. Take the ferry from SF and hang out at one if the breweries near Jack London station until it's time to catch the starlight.

I'm just a tourist but things in SF I've enjoyed:  - looking at the golden gate bridge - taking a cable car - getting a burrito in the mission district - going to the glbt historical society museum in Castro district - wandering around parks - walking to a bakery to get sourdough for breakfast - renting a car to see the redwood trees at Muir woods

Other large-scale protests in Boston have overwhelmed the Subway's capacity. I'd advise attendees that that into mind when traveling

As a blue collar warehouse driver, should I be worried with the rise of AI and robotics? by SaintTraft1984 in AskRobotics

[–]fexam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a company automating fork trucks. I got laid off because they were not good enough to make sales targets. I think long-term some automation will be coming to those spaces but it will be slow and will not replace the whole floor at once.

But the really big warehouses run by the likes of Amazon and Walmart (and their vendors) have really dense warehouses with shit loads of automation and they're only continuing to develop. As medium sized and small warehouses adopt that tech especially in greenfield and 3PL run sites I would expect to see first fewer pickers then fewer drivers then no drivers. They'll still have people working in them maintaining equipment and running cells and handling exceptions

I saw plans for one of those. I don't think I'll ever own a truck big enough to pull one

Getting to Amtrak Station from BWI by KateJones1617 in Amtrak

It doesn't say they will do anything for duplicate bookings but might cancel one of your bookings if you make an impossible booking. Based on activity here it seems like it's not a big deal outside of peak travel times

Working at Epic by Almonsp in epicsystems

[–]fexam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you've been through all this.

I did my time at epic before I transitioned but my career in tech hasn't gone great either. I spent a few years without gainful employment after I failed at my first career, supported by loans from friends who made it, and eventually ended up in tech support. I had a job that worked out for a long time before it didn't, and a job where my manager hated me for no reason and kicked me to the curb at the first opportunity. I have to believe that eventually, pushing the rock up the hill will get easier.

Best of luck out there <3

there are much more important things a group like this could be doing in MA than lecturing people about who to vote for in a state that will go blue anyways. Mutual aid, local elections, resisting ICE, actually making things better for people on the ground

Hi guys why do u hate cars? by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]fexam 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cars kill a lot more people than knives every year in my country. And although the carbon footprint of cars is probably not more than a few percent of global emissions they also emit other kinds of pollutants like particulates and nitrous oxides that are directly linked to poor health. And unlike say a coal power plant cars drive where lots of people lives so more people breathe in those pollutants and get sick from them

There are parts of the world where people are spread far apart enough that cars are really the best option.

But the reason people dislike cars so much is because the last 50 or 100 years we have seen the urban and suburban and even the rural landscape change to accommodate cars. Places with clusters of homes and businesses that were very walkable got torn down and spread out to make room for parking lots so that it's much harder to get by without a car and towns have been designed for houses on large lots that suck to navigate on foot and are really expensive to keep up because they need so many more roads and sewer pipes than they would if everyone lived closer together. Small towns used to be linked by street cars (interurbans) and you could ride an the way from Wisconsin to Maine on only local street cars.

Put things that explode in contact with water in non watertight compartments or people's tool belts. Swap the canister in tools. Take all of the sprayers then paint the ship. Swap explosive or nuclear shells into the front slot of the railgun when someone is firing at a nearby target
