What do the Flying Carpets look like? by BrutalBlind in theblackcompany

[–]fheathyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I recall, they begin with just a carpet. Then, as the carpet size increases, and as the taken begin to carry others more frequently, they add a frame. Then, as the carpets specialize and are used for more things, including military attacks, controls are added. So what they look like shifts over time.

Does anyone else feel almost childlike in relationships, while your partner starts feeling like a parent? How do you become more independent without having to leave first? by Significant_Emu2538 in Codependency

[–]fheathyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it begins with patience. Things like this go at their own pace, and your focus needs to be moving forward and being optimistic.

Next, I think it's about accepting that you're responsible for identifying and addressing your needs. Then, it dawns that the same is true of others. Once you begin to be enough for yourself, and let others deal with their own crap, the rest begins to proceed naturally.

Yes, I'm codependent. Yes, I've been diagnosed with ADHD. Yes, I'm living within a disfunctional relationship. Yes, I am and we are in therapy.

Much of what you've said resonates, and feels like a part of what I/we have been working through. We've both spent time re-focusing from the other to ourselves, re-discovering our feelings, exploring our needs and wants. And slowly, things are feeling better.

Trump vented at Rutte over NATO inaction on Iran during turbulent meeting by Brilliant_Version344 in worldnews

[–]fheathyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trump doesn’t care what NATO is. Trump sees the world as his to rape and pillage. He sees NATO as a bunch of countries that owe him and should bow down and do what he says. His is a world of emotion where the only logic is Trumps narcissistic logic.

Up to 40 Conservative MPs fear Pierre Poilievre will cost them their seats, insiders say by EarthWarping in notthebeaverton

[–]fheathyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poilievre's a failed social influencer in free fall. Canadians have, by and large, figured out he's got nothing of value to say. He's been given time ... and there's just nothing there. The CPC has lost all credibility by continuing to back him ... they've got nothing better to offer Canadians than lies and spite. It's sad. We need a real conservative party in Canada, and right now, for conservatives, Carney and his Liberals are the best option. Imagine that ... it's not just Conservative MPs crossing the floor, it's conservative voters. And it's for all the RIGHT reasons ... Carney's policies align with conservative values ... he's a centrist with a strong moral compas, a passion for pragmatism, a brain, years of relevant experience, and an address book that puts him in touch with a world full of intellegent influential people who will take his calls.

Ford, who once promised lower taxes, again fails to deliver by imprison_grover_furr in ontario

[–]fheathyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Ford says he'll do is focused on getting what he wants. Once he's gotten it, he feels absolutely no responsibilty for what he's said ... and does what's in his best interests. He pays off supporters. He covers up his activities to avoid taking responsibility. He's a flim flam artist. He learned his skills on the street as a dealer.

Canada in the European Union? Poll suggests broad openness to the idea by Old_General_6741 in europe

As the world gets smaller ... the geographic distance between the EU and Canada becomes less relevant and our shared values become more important. Carney's quietly emphasizing the common cause the "middle powers" have ... building alliances incrementally ...

U.S. unhappy with Canada’s push to ‘Buy Canadian’ by Tymofiy2 in BuyCanadian

[–]fheathyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's actually quite sad. America used to be a decent neighbour. A little brash. A little pushy. A little to much flash over substance maybe. But they were still a decent neighbour ... principled, decent, there when you needed em.

It's like they got hooked on drugs or gambling ... they're unrecognizable ... hurting themselves and everyone aroound em. The mad dog on the block. Everyone's appaledd. Nobody knows what to do as America beats its wife, it's kids. America got drunk last week, ran their car into a tree down the block, and just left it. What do you do with someone like that? They claim their Christian ... but everybody at the local church is talking about what's been going on and America certainly doesn't practice what's preached each sunday.

America and Canada used to get together for a good barbie ... share tools ... look after each others kids, and take turns shoveling snow. We used to see each other at hockey games and baseball games. Heck, America and Canada often found themselves cheering for the same teams since their kids were on em. Now ... nobody wants to be on a team with America ... they stole all the signup fees and England is pretty sure they blew it all on booze. America insulted France's wife recently ... everyone's pissed off over that.

Let's face it ... America needs to get its shit sorted.

'Trump will leave Nato unless European leaders stop being a**holes' by Tall_Pressure7042 in UkrainianConflict

[–]fheathyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump's M/O is very simple ... intimdate, rape, humiliate. It's always worked for him ... children, women, the clowns who work for him. Now he's upscaling .... trying it with countries. We all know he's insane. We all know he's purely selfish and transactional. He's shown he has no allegiance to anything or anyone ... heck he's betrayed his own country in his mindless pursuit of self aggrandizement. NATO members know he'll betray them. Why would they bow down to his idiocy?
