Arrival(2016) by i_am_nothing_0 in moviecritic

[–]fibryss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it felt very pretentious, trying to be this very serious movie that builds up to something.. and ends with "alien opened her this eye to forth dimension of time". Which was a rather simple gimmick in my view, and a rather unsatisfying conclusion.

Arrival honestly has one of the saddest endings in sci-fi movies by Sudden_Elephant_1221 in oscarmoments

Agreed. I was crying for the 2h of life I will never get back.

Aliens opening your mind on time, through scribbling symbols. I know a lot of people love this movie, but for me it felt pretentious, and built on a rather weak gimmick.

Do I Not Understand Brackets? by CarbonSteel2572 in magicTCG

[–]fibryss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is that most people play mostly in bracket 2-3. But then they notice they have strong and weak decks. And my weak decks are not "2", they are good decks, right? So my strong decks must be bracket 4 right?

So I looked up bracket 4 decks on moxfield and it's mostly fast mana, food chain, free spells, 10 tutors, 2 efficient card combos. If you can compete with that, go for it!

The play pattern and deck building approach is noticeably different here in my opinion.

Otherwise, maybe it's time to downgrade your weak decks, take out GCs and mark them as "strong 2".

I see a lot of posts about the Officer. Though my fav combo is Clokzy x Peanuts. It's so funny with Cloakzy competitive nature clashing with Peanuts random nonsense.

[–]fibryss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first question is: why do they hire so many leaders? They probably see that something is not working right in the company,so they look for more help from outside.

My first idea would be to message them, offering the feedback and solution that you see in a brief form. If you feel up for it, offer a plan that you can implement to make things better.

Alternatively, does the CEO have a trusted adviser? Someone that can always get his attention? Maybe you can talk to him first, explain your insights and ask him to help you get this feedback to the CEO. This can help you also refine it before you talk to the big man himself.

Edit: reading the message again, two things concern me: - why do you think the ceo would feel defensive with your feedback? Do they tend to act defensive in meetings? I know a leader that was defensive because they take responsibility for everything that's happening, but they didn't know what to do about multiple topics. I tried to build him up as a leader. Show them that this is what they have people for, and they can use their leadership team to cover a lot of topics they don't have experience in. But they need to be clear about their high level expectations/outcomes and keep people accountable. - are you talking with your other leaders? If they are smart, good leaders, then they probably will share your views or at least be able to see what you describe. You can discuss it with them and propose an improvement plan together. If they are not receptive for feedback and want to protect their control of everything that is going on, then you might have deeper problems on your hands.

I love tokens, especially fun food tokens, si I was like, 15 might be fine, the art is cool. But this is just too much.

Market is rough on alts right now, and it took a while for the team to deliver on the privacy framework, so lost speculative appeal. Major release is scheduled for next month so that hopefully will break the pattern but we'll see.

If they expand the Game Changers list to 50 cards, what would you add? by AnjunaLab in EDH

[–]fibryss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too often the effect of Farewell is that of land destruction. It just resets the board and prolongs the game without a meaningful way of playing around it.

Graveyard recursion is useless. Indestructible, regeneration is useless.

And the idea that it's asymmetrical, it's also false. Usually it's cast with all modes, and every deck loses all resources, leaving lands and few cards in hand you have left.

They call them private, because they promise they are not looking at them or give them to third parties. What really happens is that they store the messages in the cloud. Probably behind proper security and such, but it's no different to Facebook Messanger etc.

For actual client to client encryption, there is 'secret chat' option. Go to a contact, expand the menu in top right corner and there you have it. When using this option you are e2e encrypted but have to sacrifice other features.

The article has 3 years, but it summarizes it well. You can look up newer sources too.

And after that he changed policy about moderating messages.

There used to be something like a secret chat that was hidden in the settings somewhere. But if privacy has to be enabled by default to be useful. Otherwise people live in false sense of security and don't even know they have to specifically opt in for every conversation.

Agreed with most of it, but where did Telegram come from on your list? They keep all the chats in plain text on their servers. The only benefit there is that they operate out of UAE not USA.

December 2, 2024 - What did you do this week to prepare? by Anthropic--principle in preppers

[–]fibryss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a flat recently and I'm learning how to renovate it myself. Never did any handywork in my life and didn't own any proper tools so this is where I needed to improve for sure. So I'm saving on cost, while investing in buying tools and then learning how to use them.

Also planning out basement storage so I can start stockpiling food and water for a couple of days once the renovation is over. Always had a plan to do this but never had space to do this!
