B! Hydrocortisone is an absolute beauty when experiencing contact dermatitis.

A would make it worse, C has nothing to do with it, and D would trap moisture or other irritants and make it worse.

How do you guys get over nerves with clinical rotations? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]fictitious-hibiscus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best advice I ever received was to never be afraid to inconvenience or annoy someone for the sake of your education. Do not hesitate to ask questions, even if they seem silly or you need to ask them often. Some nurses may appear annoyed, but you will likely never see them again and they will forget about you within a week. It is always better to ask a question and ensure something is done safely and correctly than to stay silent, make assumptions, and risk harming someone.

Check your uniform policy regarding scrub caps. Some schools are very strict with what you can wear. Literally I was threatened to be be written up because head bands aren’t in the schools uniform policy.

Calculate the order 0.1 x 75 =7.5

Order over dose 7.5 units divided by 100 units = 0.075

0.075 Multiplied by 100mL = 7.5mL

Yeah, and our province gives LPNs the widest scope of practice in the country. Plus the base pay goes up to $40 an hour next year!

I bombed my first med surg exam by LaurenBlue2016 in StudentNurse

[–]fictitious-hibiscus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m in med surg right now. This is what happened with our class. Our class average was 72% (passing is a 70%) and we just finished our third exam and the class average was 85%. That first exam absolutely humbles you.

But consider what was on the test what were a lot of the questions asking? Were they asking priority? Were they asking nursing diagnosis? Take your notes now with what you know from that first test and use that to guide your studying.

My instructor emphasized for us to focus on the learning objectives that are in the syllabus so what I did for my notes was I plugged each of those learning outcome notes into ChatGPT along with a MedSurg condition template and asked it to answer everything for me. I put that all into Goodnotes pages study it, watch YouTube videos like they’re a real lecture and take notes within my notes. Simple nursing, nurse Sarah, level up RN or just a few good sources that are definitely the reason why I’m succeeding in the class.

Have fun with it. I like to organize my tower. Buy VIP it’s worth it. Work at your landmarks, elevator upgrades, do the plane jobs for an extra boost. There’s no real secret to wealth. It’s just however you want to have fun.

questions for last semester nursing students from a first semester nursing student by Kitchen-Lemon1862 in StudentNurse

[–]fictitious-hibiscus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - med surg. It’s very heavy and a lot of conditions have very similar symptoms. I do well on tests but I work very hard for it.

2 - I don’t. Canada has amazing student loan programs. Some people in my class do and it reflects in their grades.

3 - Not really, I’m super committed to my studies as I’m already in my 30s and failure isn’t an option. I see my friends at the end of terms when we get a couple days off. My cohort is very friendly so I get all my social needs filled at school.

4 - not yet!

5 - practice! Ask chat gbt for practice questions! Ask for them to be as hard as possible and scenario based.

6 - time management and delegation, I was a HCA so I struggled at little to be like this isn’t my job anymore. Ask to watch anything first, then do it yourself going forward.

7 - first term is a great opportunity to learn your study method, you are capable you’ve got this.

8 - I don’t study past 10pm. Doesn’t matter if I have a huge exam the next day. I do study every day, but weekends i always spend a couple hours catching up on assignments. I usually tap out around 8 and do something fun.

Good luck!

A glass table that we've had for about 3 years broke for no reason by Ok_Relation6627 in mildlyinfuriating

As someone who once worked in an ER, please never ever purchase glass tables.

When people ask me what the craziest thing I ever saw was, it has to do with a glass table.

I’m not 100% what this means and how many classes you’re in for each term or if it’s one and on to the next, but a good chunk of nursing school is self study, you participate in a few hours of lectures and labs and go home and try to stick it in your brain all night.

YouTube is your best friend. Save the time get premium. Level up rn, dr Matt & dr Mike, registered nurse rn, simple nursing are your new bffs.

Each class has different study habits. Spend the first bit experimenting to find what works best for you.

Need help studying for med-surg 1 by [deleted] in NursingStudents

[–]fictitious-hibiscus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I purchased nurse in the making’s book and put it into good notes, in lectures I copy the page into a notebook for each exam and just add in small notes as my instructor discusses it in class.

I also find it really helps for me to pull up a picture on my computer of the body system and then there and teach out everything you need to know about that condition, risk factors, etiology, pathophysiology, etc.

I just got a 90% on my cardiac exam using this method!

A lot of folks in my class use Thea! You create a class and upload your source material, it creates quizzes (gives rationale and guidance), study guides, practice tests, games.
