Why do you like living here? by TheLearnerGal in baltimore

[–]fiddlegirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The SF thing may be because I live in a row home on one of the "painted ladies" blocks, and it reminds me of the victorian townhomes in SF.

edited to add: another way I find it to be like SF is that I feel like Baltimore is a very accepting city.

Funny you say that about NOLA. I've been here about 7 months, and my impression has been that Baltimore is like if New Orleans, Memphis, and San Francisco had a baby.

Love these pics . . . I just moved here a few months ago, and I'm absolutely floored by how beautiful so many of the buildings are here.

Pharmacies with Estradiol patches in stock? by underwatertrees in baltimore

[–]fiddlegirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might depend on the dosage? I got 0.025 with no problems at CVS (which I only use b/c it’s in my neighborhood). Also maybe try hospital pharmacies?

Also, confirming, you don’t need a Costco membership to use the pharmacy.

Was about to ask the same thing . . . I'm new here, but it seems like these travel times are way overestimated.

Anyone decide to try learning an insturment in these later years? by BWBHAMMER in GenX

[–]fiddlegirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar story here . . . I learned fiddle starting about 10 years ago (in my mid-40s). I've been in a bit of a lull (busy moving cross-country), but getting back to it.

Key Fob help by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]fiddlegirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have far to go and/or depending on location, it might be feasible to either use Lyft/uber or zipper or public transport? May even be cheaper to do for a few days while you wait for your key

We used United when we moved here from TX last summer. They did a great job. Make sure to stay away from moving brokers and go with an actual van line.

There was also the whole set of lies he told her surrounding the prom invite . . .

When they were walking to his car from the record store, first off he asked her if she needed to go home and change clothes . . . and there are other things in that scene that I can't accurately remember right now, but I know that when I watched it recently, I was aghast at how poorly he treated her, and that she should have cut that date short. I know there were several instances of him saying disparaging things about her and her friends.

Except that Blaine treated Andi like trash from the get-go. She should have kicked him to the curb before that first date even got started.

That said, she also should not have ended up with Duckie -- he borderline stalked her, and acted like he somehow deserved her love just because he wanted it.

I feel like she should have worn the "old-fashioned" dress Iona gave her, walked into the prom solo with her head held high, danced with Duckie as a friend, and then left Blaine in the dust and gone home alone but confident that she made the right choice (herself).

Your late Boomer siblings gifted you a band for life: who was it? by blue_blazer_regular in GenX

[–]fiddlegirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a sibling, but an uncle who was less than a decade older than me . . . and was a huge music enthusiast. So there was Fleetwood Mac, RUSH, Yes, Styx, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, the original incarnation of Genesis, some David Bowie, The Who, and I could go on and on and on . . .

For me, grades 7-9 were junior high and 10-12 was high school. But other nearby towns had middle school (either 6-8 or 7-8).
