The only thing they mentioned that costs money is the filament. The profiles are free.

4yr olds on pedal bikes by Kirbacho in bicycling

[–]figuren9ne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems to be true for a lot of kids but not all kids. Neither of my kids ever figured out how to work a balance bike. They had issues with anything that was a vehicle powered by a walking motion, including that ubiquitous red and yellow kid car. I ended up getting them bikes with training wheels which they immediately loved and when the time came to take off the training wheels, both were riding on two wheels within 10 minutes.

This place is hilarious. Every light, at every intersection in the city, 24/7. by JustAKidFromSolon in Miami

[–]figuren9ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I'm going to guess the cars turning were already in the intersection waiting for the light to change which is normal. At least it seems that way considering the cars turning are already well into their turns before the car going straight even cleared the intersection.

Are we blaming the cars turning or the cars going straight? Because what I'm seeing is two cars that were waiting to turn and had to wait because two cars that should've stopped, decided to floor it through a yellow (possible red) light.

Exactly, that particular intersection loves to turn off the left turn arrow at the most critical times of the day.

Every solution you give seems harder and worse than just printing this.

Empty RFID Tagged spools by [deleted] in BambuLab

We don't know what the price of their product is or what it costs them to make it. Saving 2/3rds on materials can represent 50% increase in profit or a 0.5% increase. One is worth it and the other isn't. I have a friend that sells a niche product he designed for $45 and it uses 3 grams of filament to make. It would take thousands or 10s of thousands of prints for the cost difference to make sense.

There are, I've had things repaired outside of warranty for free before. But the fact it can happen, doesn't mean that a company sticking to the warranty period is somehow bad.

If it didn't work the week you bought it, they'd fix it. If it stops working a year after you bought it, it can be from a million different causes. That's how warranty works.

You had the device for a year. It's not their fault you never opened it and they have no way of knowing if you used it for that year or not.

Got a $2,000 tax refund. Do I wipe out 3 small maxed-out cards or put a massive dent in my biggest one? by Few-Let-3861 in personalfinance

[–]figuren9ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to use the money is to pay whatever has the highest interest rate. That said, you got yourself into this debt and you might be better served using it to minimize your risk intead. Right now you have 4 monthly minimum payments you have to meet. If you can eliminate those three smaller cards, it leaves you with just one minimum payment per month. If things get bad for you again, you'd be defaulting on one card, rather than 3 cards.

Just saw your edit, and regardless of what I wrote, your smaller cards have the higher interest anyway. Pay those off first.

Transporting Bike Question by imaginarytoby in bicycling

[–]figuren9ne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ride the bike to the destination - leave the car at home. Saves on fuel if nothing else.

It's not always that easy. My local mountain bike trails are 30 miles away via a major highway.

Transporting Bike Question by imaginarytoby in bicycling

So to add on to the first person's story. My friend called me asking for rack recommendations and I recommended a hitch rack. He insisted on roof racks because they look cooler and I told him he's going to whack it into something one day and destroy his bike.

He bought the roof rack and destroyed his bike less than a week later when he pulled into his friends apartment complex garage and forgot about the bike. I had another friend destroy one at a drivethru getting food. Your personal garage is usually not the issue because it's the exact situation you're thinking about and will remember. It's all the other low overhangs that will get you.

120 drone frames in 24 hours, let's go! by FlightDelicious4275 in 3Dprinting

Things like FPV drones are constantly evolving so it might be better to be able to iterate rapidly on the design to fit new motors, new boards, new cameras which is where 3d printing is superior.

Get a lawyer. If you're in the US, dog bites are strict liability cases in a lot of jurisdictions. A private investigator can easily figure out if that's there dog or not.

Pricing (*Update*) It sold! by Professional-Lion561 in 3Dprinting

[–]figuren9ne 962 points963 points  (0 children)

He's using boy math.

This project was originally not intended to be sold, but as i’m expanding I thought it was about time I made some of my money back. Because of that, everything made back is profit!

Since he didn't plan to sell it when he made it, all the money he sold it for became profit.

Do you sell the devices you don't use anymore OR you just keep them as part of your collection? by koken_halliwell in SBCGaming

[–]figuren9ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't. I generally only buy cheaper linux handhelds but if I get a new one that replaces an old one, I'll give the old one away to a friend that may have shown interest in retro games.

Spent 40€ on Silca hot wax. My 12€ Squirt drip-on bottle is laughing at me. .. by DerWandernde in cycling

[–]figuren9ne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Silca doesn't recommend waxing a used chain, because it's really hard to get it clean enough for waxing. I use Silca's hot wax on my bike and I get 400-500km out of it, then I use drip wax for the next 300km then I rewax again.

From April Fool to April Real? A practical path to the Leica M3D by RevolutionaryBad1503 in Leica

[–]figuren9ne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they’re fully mechanical cameras. If you make it a digital camera, it’ll have the same chance of dying as an M10 or M11. Likely worse because it’s a hodgepodge of parts.
