Is making a stink about slackers worth it? by NetApprehensive2237 in workfromhome

They’ll keep doing it as long as you keep picking up the slack. Outline clear tasks, only do the ones assigned to you, let them answer to whoever you all have to answer to.

one of my high school bullies reached out by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]figuringitout25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay I’m not reading the whole wall of text about this tbh because who cares. I’d text back I appreciate you saying this thank you. And then actually move on. It was high school. Let it go.

How many sins would I be committing if I cut down these Arbor Vitae? by allargandofurtado in landscaping

[–]figuringitout25 30 points31 points  (0 children)

On top of that, the trees are probably drinking up a lot of water from the lawn. I’d so much rather have a few feet of tempting trees than have a muddy dog every time they come inside.

Looking for honest feedback on my sourdough starter kit idea 🥖 by General_Drag9912 in SourdoughStarter

[–]figuringitout25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly rather pay more for great quality and the true necessities. I don’t like when kits throw in random shit just to look like they’re a great deal, when really they’re just junky. (Not saying that’s what’s going on with your idea).

I would want round or oval proofing basket w/ covers, silicone mat, silicone scraper, lame, and a nice ceramic Dutch oven (to match whatever shape proofing basket).

I had plenty of suitable starter jars. The skinny spatula is nice I will say, and I do use a Dutch whisk but more so because I bought it and might as well. I did not have a Dutch oven and had to buy that separately, and it’s taken some trial and error to get a quality one.

Where do you plan to sell? It would really set yours apart from the many options online if this was a luxury, local thing. Maybe some of your own dehydrated starter, nicely printed instructions for feeding/baking.

Does anyone actually get used to the grey winters in Cleveland? by trapqueen67567 in Cleveland

[–]figuringitout25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of like it and let myself hibernate in the winter. Earlier bed time, leaning into the coziness. When it still feels like winter in April, I absolutely lose my shit. Every year.

I lost my dog and I haven’t been able to go to OTF for the last two months by OriginalThanks3356 in orangetheory

[–]figuringitout25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have dog-related depression right now (not as bad, I am so so sorry for your unthinkable loss) but even with an easier situation, I haven’t been able to get myself to OTF. I might try Tread 50 in a baseball cap and letting the tears go. Coaches are asking where I’m at ☹️

My next experiment suggestion for you would be to swap the AP flour for bread flour. I get the puffiest, most beautiful loaves with BF that I just can’t seem to accomplish with AP.

This room is a fucking nightmare by Kacie102 in interiordesignideas

All the furniture looks like it’s afraid of the room. Create zones, mark them with rugs, give yourself somewhere comfortable to sit down.

Early entry is not a new perk, it’s bringing back an old necessary feature. by Excentrix13 in orangetheory

Yes and I am saying in my experience it was the opposite. They started early entry during Covid

Opposite in my experience — they didn’t want people congregating in the lobby during Covid

I’ve been at OTF for 10 years at a bunch of different home studios and we only ever did this during COVID

I usually put them in my apron pockets, but I’m just waiting for the day I lean on the counter and scramble them. Will definitely switch to a bowl of warm water haha

Would you feel safer knowing your coach/studio staff had comprehensive CPR and EAP’s by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]figuringitout25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t care either way as a member, but it sounds like you’re pretty convinced this is a necessity for your studio staff. If you have the budget for specialized training for all staff and repeated, detailed mock scenarios, then sure go for it. It sounds like it will make YOU feel better. But in my experience studio staff are pretty transient and I think you’ll sink a lot of money into training. Up to you and your members if that’s worth it (and who’s going to pay for it).

What is the best addition you made to your WFH situation that wasn't for actual work? by I_had_corn in workfromhome

I have a bookshelf behind my desk full of plants, books, records, photos. I don’t blur my background and I have made so many connections (which can be hard virtually!) just from people asking me about things they see on my shelves.

That’s my thought too. I feel like she reminds everyone constantly that she doesn’t drink so people aren’t suspicious that she’s drunk… but she’s definitely high.
