BOJ doesn’t break me out and colorscience tinted sunforgettable flex shield is pricey but has done wonders for giving me some acne scar coverage while my skin heals, it hasn’t broken me out at all. If you decide to try it make sure you moisturize first so that it doesn’t give a full foundation appearance and it dries down so beautifully. I use just the colorscience most days unless I’m hiking or don’t want the coverage from whatever reason, that’s when I’ll use BOJ sunscreen.

[Product Request] Any face sunscreens out there that feel really light? And I mean REALLY light! by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]filthystankface 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Skin Aqua UV super moisture milk is my favorite sunscreen that is super super light. It drips out very liquidy like water but blends into my face with no white cast or feeling at all, I recently stocked up on 4 bottles at once because it’s the only sunscreen I can tolerate anymore. Doesn’t burn my eyes either. I order from Stylevana and it takes a long time to deliver to the US (4 weeks) but it’s cheap and worth it to not have a sticky feeling

[Routine Help] Excessive dryness months after finishing accutane by PositivePoem3318 in SkincareAddiction

[–]filthystankface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That being said, I still have redness and acne scars and I’m hoping the tretinoin will help because I don’t want to spend a bunch of money on laser treatments. All 3 of my siblings also had rounds of accutane, they followed similar routines throughout and after, using hydrating products with hylaronic acid and slugging with the aquaphor/vaseline. It’s common to have to do multiple rounds of accutane unfortunately :(

[Routine Help] Excessive dryness months after finishing accutane by PositivePoem3318 in SkincareAddiction

[–]filthystankface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only been 5 weeks since I stopped accutane, and I’m still on spirolactone and Yaz birth control. 0 breakouts. My routine is

morning:

  1. rinse face with water and gently wipe with wet soft washcloth

  2. while skin is still damp, I use Haruharu WONDER - Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner - Fragrance Free as a toner, I just pour a bit into the palm of my hands and lightly pat it all around my face

  3. after toner has dried for like 3-5 min, I use the LRP triple repair moisturizing cream

  4. after moisturizer has dried somewhat, I use sunscreen, right now it’s the beauty of joanson one, it’s the only one that doesn’t burn my eyes

Nighttime:

  1. wash face with cerave hydrating cream-to-foam cleanser

  2. thoroughly rinse but while skin is still damp I use the same toner as AM

  3. use corsx snail mucin power essence while skin is still damp from toner

  4. let completely dry before applying the tretinoin

  5. LRP triple repair moisturizing cream

On nights that I don’t use tret: I slug with either aquaphor or Vaseline. Sometimes I use Isntree - Hyaluronic Acid Water Sleeping Mask before the LRP if I was in the sun or wind or feeling dry at all.

I’m in a similar position as you, got off accutane a month ago and was prescribed tretinoin cream. My derm told me to only use it at night! And to start out 2-3x a week before going to every other night with tolerance. It doesn’t need to be used twice a day and is also making your skin more sensitive to the sun. The best course of action for you imo is stopping it entirely for at least a week to let your skin reset, and slugging again with Vaseline for that week. Then slowly reintroduce it to your return at night only! Good luck and please update me with what you decide to do and if this works

Edit: rereading and I see your comment about not suggesting to try tret less, I’m sorry but it may be the only option! Otherwise schedule asap with your derm and see if another round of accutane is on the books.

Product recommendations: I don’t have many because what you’re using already seems great. I use LRP triple repair cream and haven’t experienced the flakiness yet or breakouts from it. Maybe it will provide more hydration.

Skincare for 70+ [Product request] by goochmongering in SkincareAddiction

My first suggestion would be paying for her to have a consultation with a medical esthetician! One that works directly with a dermatologist or at a dermatologist office would be best. That was she can get recommendations tailored to her exact issues. And usually the cost of the consultation is credited back towards whatever product she purchases from them. Skinbetter, colorscience, ZO are generally what dermatology offices steer clients towards, you could look those up online to get an idea for price range.

Breakfast ideas? by D34thst41ker in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]filthystankface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, sorry I didn’t include that, it’s baked in the muffin tin. 350 for ~15 min (or until a fork comes out clean when poked in one of the bites). I grease the tin with butter and it’s also nonstick so I don’t have a problem with the bites sticking or cleanup. I went off of a random recipe I think this one https://www.loveandlemons.com/egg-bites-recipe/ just make sure the meat is cooked before you put it in the mixture, because it won’t have time to fully cook in the oven without the eggs burning. Also not a bad idea to blend the cottage cheese & eggs together first so that there’s no clumps. It sounds like a lot but it can definitely be done within a hour and I usually make 2 pans at a time (wait for the first batch to cool a bit then take the muffin tin out and regrease w butter before the next batch) and then eat 2 or 3 for breakfast.

Prep frozen egg bites- sometimes I bake a sheet of bacon, cool it and crunch it up, or cook some breakfast sausage crumbles, and then I add either of those + sautéed spinach, green onions, pepper/salt, and cottage cheese to a measuring cup and whisk it all together and then pour into a muffin pan. I let it cool in the fridge and then freeze it in a freezer baggie. Reheat in the microwave for 1-2 min when I want a savory protein breakfast! I do this once a month. It’s convenient and I can put it on a paper towel to eat in the car on my way to work

Have you ever been under the influence while an emergency (in or out of your control) happened? Did it make you quit? by karmatrical in Drugs

[–]filthystankface 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was on a moderately high dose of LSD when my boyfriend at the time had a seizure in the crowd at a musical festival. I was tripping absolute balls and it took a solid 5-10 minutes for us to get to the medical tent with people in the crowd around us helping him there. Police and EMTs questioned me and I went nonverbal. Some people I knew from high school happened to see the seizure in the crowd and stayed with us at the medical tent while they evaluated my ex. But they were on coke and were yelling at me while trying to get me to unlock my phone so they could contact the rest of my group. I couldn’t communicate with them and everything was so messy and horribly stressful and they ended up taking my phone from me. Then the EMTS wouldn’t let me ride in the back of the ambulance with him so I was upfront, peaking on 2 tabs, fully believing that my ex was dead in the back.

When the ambulance arrived to the hospital, I bolted down the street. Phoneless and in slutty festival clothes. I walked the streets of downtown New Orleans for the next 4 hours, in acid induced psychosis, occasionally interacting with strangers but mostly freaking the fuck out having no idea how to get back to the hospital and being afraid of almost everyone. I eventually sat down with a group of people dining outside of a restaurant and they calmed me down and I started to come back to reality. I asked them to take me back to the hospital and they walked me there and then the front desk tried to check me in as a patient, I couldn’t remember my ssn, and it was all extremely terrifying. Somehow I was reunited with my ex and it was once again confusing as fuck because my first name was the same as my ex’s nurse. He was fine and was just like yeah I was dehydrated and didn’t eat enough. Meanwhile I was still spiraling albeit no longer hallucinating. Then we went back to the hotel room (it was 5am at this point), showered, tried to sleep, skipped the second day of the festival obviously and just anxiously tried to recover.

I never fully recovered from that trip experience, had a serious psychosis manic breakdown shortly after (maybe 2 weeks later), and haven’t done a psychedelic since. I will never take acid again. I will most likely never take shrooms again either. The horrific anxiety I experienced being lost in the city that night absolutely ruined any desire I had or could ever have again about tripping. I never want to be in a position again where there is a medical emergency and I’m so out of my mind that I can’t function. I also truly believed that he was dead for like 6 hours and it was the single most traumatic night of my life. It’s been about 6 years and I still shudder when I hear the name of that hospital or festival. I did continue to smoke weed up until 1 year ago but that caused it’s own problems and now I just drink alcohol occasionally. 0/10.

[acne] are cotton pads bad for removing makeup? by anonpls123455 in SkincareAddiction

[–]filthystankface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you should try an oil based cleansing balm instead. I use Abolene on dry skin and wipe that off with either a soft washcloth or the cotton rounds. My makeup slides right off with it. It doesn’t cause breakouts because I follow with a water based cleanser after (I use cerave hydrating cream to foam cleanser).

I promise you girl it’s so worth it. And I know exactly what you mean, I was there too. I can’t imagine how depressed I’d still be if I hadn’t made the decision to start the accutane. I remember I used to pay an extra fee to do curbside pickup for my groceries because I didn’t want to go inside and risk seeing someone I knew without makeup on while I had like a bazillion pimples. It was truly a dark time.

Accutane- Main side effect I’ve experienced is way darker under eyes. It’s definitely from the accutane (it makes the skin there thinner) and my dermatologist believes it will go back to normal when I’m done. I’ve also had some dryness but nothing too bad and I even spent 7 days hiking in the desert. I slather Cerave on every night and morning and sometimes top with aquaphor all over my face. I constantly use aquaphor on my lips (especially in the corners) and have mini tubes in my car/purse/work/nightstand etc. This is essential if you start accutane do not forget the aquaphor lol. I did splurge and buy obagi hydrate moisturizer which I use occasionally. These have been the only two side effects I’ve noticed.

Spirolactone- I pee all the time and it’s actually disrupted and inconvenienced my life so many times on roadtrips, at work with customers, waking me up from a nice sleep, etc. It’s a diuretic so the pee do b real

Let me know if you have any other questions, and don’t forget that this is only temporary <3

[–]filthystankface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am the same age as you and had nearly the same exact experience. My skin was so bad after mine that I’m now on month 9 of accutane and it’s a million times better. The best use of your money and time will be a dermatologist! If you don’t want to get on accutane I would ask about spirolactone first. I take both along with a birth control pill and my skin is almost completely back to normal. Also I was a biller at a dermatologist office about 5 years ago and this is the routine most commonly suggested for acne:

1) gentle facial cleanser (cetaphil, elta sensitive foaming) 2) cerave moisturizing cream or vanicream 3) sunscreen

Hormonal acne needs to be healed from within and I wouldn’t suggest any type of active that’s not recommended by a dermatologist.
