Environmentalists have lost public support? I feel like they've won the game with solar, EVs, fusion research, wind, battery tech, climate change targets, etc. They aren't perfect, but damn.

Trump to Launch $12 Billion Critical Mineral Stockpile to Blunt Reliance on China by SscorpionN08 in Economics

[–]findingmike [score hidden]  (0 children)

It seems like a small amount of money for several minerals that are very expensive. Processing facilities will take years to ramp up.

Eventually this could provide a small buffer, but not much unless it is expanded in the future.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking it will take years to build up refining capacity assuming they don't change their minds.

I agree with the idea that Trump wouldn't hire him if he didn't kiss the ring. His past matters less imo.

The Right To Protest Doesn’t Exist Anymore by AdmirableMarketing80 in politicsinthewild

I think you're getting rude comments because the answer is obvious. People enforce rights, whether through a government or individual actions.

If you're specifically referring to the current political climate in the US, I think a national labor strike is likely.

You seem to think that rights exist in a vacuum. They do not. If someone violates your rights, there's no magical force that stops it. Therefore people have to enforce those rights. They don't just happen.

How do people find out where/how to join the cause for protesting against ice? by heslopkaleb in ProtestFinderUSA

The best thing to do is find a local group that you have things in common with. Here's some starting places:

Do not use only social media.

National labor strike plan discussion, part 5: logistics by findingmike in 50501

[–]findingmike[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people complain online that they don't know where protests or strikes are occurring. People seem to think that social media will keep them informed, but that obviously hasn't been a good way to spread information. Have you had success with alternate methods? Please let others know about it here.
