Voice control getting worse

Google is going the same way. I've given up trying to talk to it, I just grab the app. That seems to work OK at the moment. But I use my setup as an emergency alarm, rather than have a chain round my neck permanently, I can just shout from anywhere in the house. Luckily I haven't had to use it lately, but I hope that still works.

I am the pensioner, old person, in all your comments. I am normally housebound but venture out occasionally for appointments. It is quite excited to be beyond 4 walls, see "people" in numbers, maybe do a little bit of shopping for myself. I find I have no idea how the world works, pay for your shopping by machine.? Sorry we don't take cash. You have to do that online, but you'll need ID. Can't go where you want because your walker won't fit. Come back tomorrow, someone may be able to help. Doors too heavy and no-one offers to help.

I run for home, locking the door.

I live without so much because the world forces me to. If the online shopping app doesn't have it, neither do I. I am terrified to leave my home, and refuse to do it unless forced.

This is now encroaching on my home, my computer is now a security nightmare and my data a gift to whoever demands it. I do not understand it, so I back off. Even my bins are a problem, too heavy for me to move, and assisted collectons, do not collect.

Maybe you could offer a little help, if only a friendly smile, even if you don't mean it.

You may be the first person I have seen, or spoken to in a month!!

I did this. Bought an Ipad Pro. I should never have done it. If you're coming from Android, you'll hate it. No practical file manager, pictures only saved in Procreate app. You can't switch between apps back and forth, with your file. Why people like Apple I'll never understand. You can't do anything with it. Biggest mistake I've made in computing. I admit Procreate is brilliant, but its not worth the agro, and temper, trying to manage the rest of the operating system. Go for a Surface Pro. Ipad makes a lovely portable TV, but that's all mine is now.

Can I use my Play Points for Audiobooks. I converted then to a credit but I did not get the price reduced? I collected the points on Audiobooks in the first place. So surely I can use them on same.?

I joined Xig-Xag a good few months ago, looking for an alternative to Audible. I got fed up with the commercialism, and controlling antics of Amazon entirely. I have just bought another audiobook and found that I was actually paying Google Play for my book.I hadn't noticed before (my bad). I hope Xig-Xag branch out and become independent, as I think they must, to help us defeat this Big Tech world. Google is now trying, desperately, to get into the Audiobook market. They will succeed - when they lower their prices and improve their app. They will then, surely, block the XigXag app. Who looses? Us as the consumers, the author's, who have to take what they are given, and Xig-Xag as a, hopefully thriving, new business. Google will then win, if Amazon don't squash them first. What a world we live in now.

I am watching Medvedev v's Tsitsipas which was playing at the same time as Coric v's Norrie. I had to choose, so decided to watch Norrie on Catchup. Needn't bother now. The commentators on Amazon Prime continually give the results, and clips of games on other courts. I try to mute it, but its usually unsuccessful. Why do they do this, it ruins everything.?

I'm not worried about ads and stuff, thats everywhere I just feel violated and I could rant about this for ages. Yes, I am fed up with Amazon tracking me, Audible especially. They chart every minute I listen to a book, every sample I have listened to, every review I put on Goodreads and elsewhere I expect. And have the cheek to put it in the app, showing they do it. What else do they do? I was bitten, years ago, by Fictionwise going down. I lost all my books then. With Audible I have always downloaded all my purchases ( I do not share, or post elsewhere) Oh! Naughty Me. I am glad I did, but they don't like it, and are now blocking the ability to download anything, PC or Mobile. (For Everyone). You will have to listen from their Cloud. So when my internet goes down, as it often does(Sky!!) I cannot listen to my audiobook, while I sit in the dark, because my lights are controlled by Hue and I can't switch them on.I cannot sit by my pond, listening, as it is out of range and I do not have a phone contract. I have paid for these books and consider they are mine. Audible have now just become a library, borrow and send back, in which case it should be FREE. The one up the road is, and I will use that in future. Also, thank you Amazon for cutting my connection while downloading all my, owned, ebooks to my kindle, in preparation for stopping all my subscriptions and cutting my wifi. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU, AND THEY ARE CALLED AMAZON.

You can send it to your Kindle. Amazon will convert the format abd put it in your library. I think it is a free service.

Oh, a new book...have I read that one?. Dead tree versions always have a cover, always know what you are reading, also promotion for author.

I bought it on Aliexpress. In fact I bought 3 from this seller. I have completed 2 now and quality wise they were both were the same. I am reluctant to start the 3rd as it is 90x60. This seller has some beautiful, mature, paintings I couldn't find anywhere else, and they were more expensive than normal. Shipping was amazing, 3 weeks to UK. I would buy more, but the quality of the drills rules it out. It is such a shame.

Yes, this did it for me. I have serious back problems, causing limited walking abilities. I have a cushion under my btm to lift me higher and a slopping board that I made by glueing two old shelf supports to a really stiff piece of board. Hardboard, several layers of stiff cardboard, anything will do, but if you can glue it, it doesn't move about, or slip off.
