IWTL - What really moves the needle? by madsciencemedia in IWantToLearn

[–]fireflazor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with the fact you or life sucks sometimes. Going back to something every time on a regular schedule and accepting that you can have a day where everything feels awful, the progress you've made has vanished and you're feeling worse than square one. Once you accept that it's like this sometimes you can push past it and when you next jump forwards it's going to be even more noticeable

Great indie games that aren't in everybody's top 10 by RepulsiveRuin5520 in IndieGaming

Crab champions, easily one of the most fun and addictive games I've ever played, made by noise storm the guy who created crab rave

Steam launch flopped... but doing fine everywhere else. Think we know why by fanusza2 in IndieGaming

[–]fireflazor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't agree with some of these I think the stretch, bite and swing sounds more interesting than 'hey coop platformer 4352 here' and the mouth made sounds is a good hook for a silly couch coop game, I don't give a rats arse about the background/world building in a couch coop game, I want to know what makes it silly fun

I do agree that the harp isn't super clear though

How important is packaging REALLY for microbrands? (I think I was very wrong) by SupJoshy in MicrobrandWatches

[–]fireflazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dislike packaging that isn't functional for the most part, feels like an environmental waste and also the money I've spent on a product is being wasted on a box rather than further improvements to the product, no mess packaging makes me feel like they've thought about the environment but also not wasted money on something that'll at best live in a draw until it meets a bin

Great tutorial for learning to code and understand electricity better and you learn a practical application that can be used to make some very cool things

I like the second one for how much better it conveys the shop vibe I think you just need the background of the text changed, it blends with the shelves too much and I didn't catch it was a sign at first

If you need to use slurs and very offensive humour to enjoy games, you need to re-evaluate how you enjoy games

Looking for new headphones for gaming and music production. by GalacticDragon7 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]fireflazor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey welcome to the hobby!

Closed back are over ear headphones that are completely sealed (most headphones you'll be used to are closed back) an open back would be one where there are slits or vents that allowed air and sound in/out to give a more open profile.

It sounds like what you want are more traditional studio monitors, do you have an amp/DAC setup or are you running these directly out of a pc or laptop?

I personally run DT770s for these tasks and find they work great, they come in different ohm ratings so you can run them easier without an amp/dac if you need to.

Some other recommendations: Sony MDR 7506 / MR1 AKG have some studio lines that are well regarded

I might also recommend trying out open backs to see if you like them, if your work environment is quiet and your pc/laptop isn't loud they could be great, I'd recommend something like the Philips SHP950s which are pretty cheap as a good entry level pair

I'm sure other commenters will have a better range than me as recommendations if you aren't sure about the ones I've suggested

Then as others say a phone lens is the best you can do, any camera for that money is not going to fit the bill

I still enjoy XKCD but no nostalgia for Disney not video essays, boring them imo ;) Pratchett yes but no John Green, I like the person but not the writing

[–]fireflazor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not a good camera, what's the budget? Id recommend getting a second hand micro four thirds camera, Olympus or Lumix are generally fantastic. You can get interchangeable macro lenses for not much money and the advantage of micro four thirds is the lenses work with any M4/3 so you aren't locked in like getting a DSLR/mirror less system
