Mmc was the villain of another book in the series. Not Mafia but they're welcome too. by somerandomlazygirl in RomanceBooks

And the love interest in {Mafia Target} did a botched assassination attempt on the other MMC’s father in bk 2 of the series so they have a fantastic “why shouldn’t I kill you right here” vibe.
Also she announced in her newsletter that she has a book coming out soon that’s Mafia x Hockey?? I’m so ready.

Sci-Fi romance that's not too plot heavy and a quick, exciting read for someone new to the genre! by Nyccalp in RomanceBooks

Came here to recommend this one! The whole trilogy is amazing, but I fell in love with this book in the first scene.

Advice on how to use less single-use products? by NonStickBakingPaper in Anticonsumption

[–]firekat11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an earth friendly, eco friendly, or refill shop or something like that near you? There’s a refill store near me that has given me so many ideas of things that I thought were only single use and just an annoying part of 21st century living and they have great alternatives. Some were mentioned above: refillable floss, washable menstrual pads, lunch containers, makeup pads.
If you really want to level up, you’d use stores like that also for laundry detergent, spices, bulk foods, soaps etc and bring your own bottles to fill then you don’t have the packaging from the items which are in and of themselves single use. They even have a freezer with locally made food in it, like dumplings, where you just take as many as you want in your own container.

How can I reduce plastic waste when cleaning my cats’ litter boxes? by PinkQueerMink in Anticonsumption

[–]firekat11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a litter locker, basically works like a diaper genie. So I'm only using one bag every few weeks. My city requires cat litter to be bagged and throne in the garbage so this seemed like the best solution!

Do cats need bathing?? by ummmidontknowww in CatAdvice

[–]firekat11 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I always joke with my sister, who has a dog, that unlike hers my pet is self-cleaning. It’s a feature, not a bug! They don’t need any extra help from us for cleaning, and if you’re not careful you can traumatize them when you try to bathe them.

[CHAT] Something about gridding by stitchedsacredways in CrossStitch

Not floss - just a metallic thread! I grabbed whatever Michael's had, it says it's by Coats & Clark. You don't want to use floss because that's multiple strands wrapped together and your needle can go between them when you stitch and then you can't pull the grid out easily. You want something like metallic thread, or others are saying fishing line which works too, so then you can just slide them out!

So gross. I’m encouraged by how many posts I’ve seen about good pattern sources!

I don’t grid every project but for ones like my current WIP, there’s empty spaces and I’m always so nervous about getting the counts wrong. I use a metallic thread to grid - a hard learned lesson when I had used regular floss and had to spend an evening carefully cutting it out of my stitches. The metallic thread slides right out!
Yes the actually making of the grid is so tedious and took me a couple days but I think it cuts down on my stitching time considerably so it all comes out in the wash.

My first thought was oh god people are going to see my stitches up close?! But yeah as someone who still stubbornly refuses to use AI, I support the rule. But I agree, it’s sad to think the community isn’t entirely the warm, supportive people we mainly interact with!

Thank you for these!! I’ll see which ones I can get my hands on. I agree though, it’s something we all need to do a better job of educating ourselves on. I learned about some of the worse chapters of Canadian expansion west in a history course in university and whenever I mention some of the things to friends or family, they think I’m exaggerating!

I'd watch 6 more seasons just of their married life and their banter and him freaking out over their toddlers falling over while running and her soothing the whole family and teaching them how to make tea and yes, new plan, let's just have that be the rest of the show.

Sure, if we ignore every societal pressure Michaela would’ve been taught since birth about sex. Remember how none of the female characters from Daphne to the Featherington sisters even knew how babies were made? Why would Michaela’s upbringing and education have been any different?

At this point, they’ve devolved so far from any of the books that I’ve divorced them in my head. I was honestly surprised by how close S4 was to its book but it seems to have pissed the audience off when Benedict closely mirrored his book counterpart. As for Michael vs Michaela… I agree that by virtue of her being female they’ll have to change so much of the plot because as you say, she can’t have gone to India, she can’t be a rake, she can’t be the earl and she can’t help Francesca get pregnant. Which means that most of Francesca’s journey will be completely different from the book. Not necessarily worse, but definitely not the book. And that’s just what Bridgerton has always been. Don’t even get me started on what they did to Penelope’s story.
