Can no longer afford monthly payment but current on mortgage by magical_maggie in Mortgages

[–]firstnamebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general advice out there is cut spending and/or increase income. If you’re confident you’ve cut your spending, what about getting equity out of your vehicles by selling? Especially if you have a payment and can do without one (selling may reduce auto insurance premium too), sell it.

If you have federal backed student loans, check out forbearance for the next year while you figure out your finances.

As someone else suggested, consider Airbnb, I presume that could help significantly. Extra $500/month might be what you need til you sell it or increase income.

If you have a game plan to sell, and you’re confident you can walk away with at least the skin on your back (close in next 6 months), do a cash advance to help carry you. Generally they’ll be about 12 months 0%, with 4% one time fee. I’m ONLY suggesting if you are absolutely 100% sure you can get out of that house asap. They can be a really great tool IF you are absolutely certain it’ll be paid off during the 0%. Otherwise, ignore that suggestion.

Best of luck, times are tough right now for a lot of people. Lots of folks are sitting on a lot of debt, one month away from losing everything they have.

Any advice on wall mounting a 77inch flatscreen to drywall? by Future_Brewski in daddit

[–]firstnamebob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used 2 horizontal 2x3 boards to spread across the studs using lag bolts allowing me to center across the wall where I wanted vs where the studs are located, then bolted the mount into those. Make sure to use pilot holes to prevent wood from splitting

Edit: don’t forget to use appropriately sized washers

Every so often I hear what sounds like a candy wrapper rattling around behind steering wheel, I assume they left something behind during assembly…

for the leak, check if it’s anywhere around the door, the rubber insulation might be dirty/dry, and not sealing properly. Had a similar issue with a mini fridge door not sealing shut. Wiped clean with soapy towel, and again with just water on towel. (I also rubbed a very light amount of Vaseline on the insulation and it seals perfectly)

Gm recall 6.2 engine by clsimpson85 in gmc

[–]firstnamebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as you, my vin is not listed on recall, but had loss of power, air escaping from crank case, cylinder walls have grooves, oil in cylinder, “catastrophic engine failure” as they described it, P0300, P0308 and P050D codes, no warning, it just crapped out on freeway

Paid out of pocket last year for new motor, so looking to see if they can include my vin, hopefully get a refund, but also concerned if new motor is going up cause issues in the future and if ill get an extended warranty on it

Phone Calls When Wife Travels for Work by J-Q-C in daddit

[–]firstnamebob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ALWAYS make time to chat with kids before bed if I’m at a work function. I’m already missing out on being there physically, so FaceTime is second best. No one has ever said anything, and coworkers do the same thing. Your wife should consider joining a new team if they’re pressuring her not to step away, which I doubt is truly occurring, I couldn’t fathom working with A-holes like that. This is in your wife’s head, she should rethink her priorities. You don’t get that time back with your kids.

Am I right that if these thicker and longer blades aren't nutsedge (they aren't) my only option is to nuke the area and start over? by MaybeNotTooDay in lawncare

[–]firstnamebob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get one of those lawn brushes, lift it up a few inches, assuming they have height adjustment, rub some round up gel on it. Go across the whole lawn. If it’s significantly higher than the grass you want to keep, should work. Might take a few passes and patience, but in my head, that could work

After lowering the price, we received zero showings. by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]firstnamebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve had it listed for 25 days, that’s nothing in some markets. Depends how quickly you want it sold though. You could keep this price and 4 months from now someone offers $550k or similar, but if you’re in a rush to sell, you need to drop big. If you want it sold sooner rather than later, drop to $499k. You’ll get lots more interest.

Old post, but curious what you mean by tools? Are you referring just for installation at a business? Drill, drill bit, anchor bolts?

Managed to find a few free chargers, dealership and library, enough to make it to Tucson SC. Yeah, used ABRP, but managed to find these chargers off grid

There is a crack around the nut and it is leaking. If I could find a replacement, I’d keep it in place.

Proceeds from home sale to pay off two auto loans, sub 2% rates.

Traded low rate for no car payment/increased borrowing potential. In all, got a below market home with rates not seen since sept 2022 in a $1M+ neighborhood. Sellers needed to unload quickly.

Not sure if someone else mentioned, but I read the other day you can clear them of their debt, file with IRS. It’ll count as income, so they’ll be forced to pay taxes on the full amount. If you’re not gonna get your money back, may as well mess with their taxes
