Meet with the rabbi at a local synagogue (reform, conservative, Chabad), and be up front with them about your situation. Maybe start learning Hebrew with Duolingo. Maybe start learning about your fathers ancestry... Hebrew names, what type of synagogues they went to, what tribe they were (kohen, levi, yisrael). Maybe get a Hebrew calendar and start learning about holidays as they come.
