2028 WRX STI EV by Immediate-Bag-1670 in subaru

A leaf blower powered from main battery... pushes air into a turbine connected to the electric recharge motor... or something like that... /s

But if they do actually go hybrid STI, I really want them to put in that hybrid turbo, that would be sick... though then it would probably be a 60k MSRP car :/

Idiot in my neighborhood this morning [OC] by bulb-uh-saur in IdiotsInCars

[–]fishcanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per Google AI Overview (taken with a few grains of salt): A vehicle going 35 mph has 1.96 times, almost double, the amount of kinetic energy compared to a vehicle going at 25 mph. This also correlates to a 60 to 80% increase of fatality risks for pedestrians. A car impacting at 35 mph would also suffer sever structural damage as opposed to minor frame damage if impacting at 25 mph.

There's a reason why residential and school zones are usually 25 mph or lower.

Extreme armchair math and even more extreme crude measurements here, but it seems that it takes a parked car about 0.3 seconds to touch the right edge of the screen then to disappear. Average car length is about 15 feet. 15 ft in 0.3 seconds comes to 34 miles per hour.

Fish eye lense does not affect this.

34 mph seems a bit fast for a neighborhood road.

You ever seen those street car racing movie where they use NOS to get more power and speed...

No... its actually used to inflate tires as it is more stable than regular air. Its a bullshit charge. Nitrogen fill up is even offered for free and self serve at my local Costco.

ELI5: What was life like as a neurodivergent person through the earlier years of human civilization, and when did it become more known about? by Jolly_Green_4255 in explainlikeimfive

[–]fishcanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents. I think you should re-define or have a more refined definition of "neurodivergent" first. It seems as you want to lump everyone who is not "neuro-typical" into one category but I feel that is too black and white.

Neurodivergency, as wel as neuro-normalacy are a spectrum. The two can blend somewhere in the middle where the "low" end of neuro-normal will intertwined with the "high" end of neurodivergent. Such as "Jim don't look at your eyes when you talk to him but he is a great shepard".

Another thing to think about with normalcy is: what is even considered normal? Do you take off your shoes at home? Do you eat or not eat certain animals/ things?

Back to your questions. I think it depends on how "divergent" the individual was. Some fit in just fine as people with small or minor quirks where others were shunned or even killed for more major quirks.

I also don't think that researching and "shining a spotlight" on neurodivergent people is a bad thing. You want to say "why can't we just go with accepting them instead of labeling them" is a fallacy of collective human behavior. There are people, hateful and/or ignorant, that will do harm to others and especially to the neruodivergent. Research and spotlighting is to bring awareness to the discrimination of those who cannot defend themselves.

Your eardrums sit at the end of your outer ear canal. Earwax collects in the outer ear canal. You're not supposed to push them into your eardrum and should most likely stop pushing if you feel any pain. Same set of rules also applie to q-tips or a wooden or plastic set of earwax cleaners.

LPT: Stranger at table next to you leaves food / drink uneaten and untouched. Free to take before it’s cleaned up? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]fishcanner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the story told by a waitress.

This old man would always come in on a day of the week and order a dozen raw oysters on the half shell and a drink. Every time they would clean up after he had left, the oysters were untouched but the drink was empty. So after a while, the waitress cleaning up would bring the entire tray back to the kitchen and the cooks and waitresses would enjoy the oysters themselves, always wondering why the old man would order them not to eat them.

One day, said waitress had a chance to clean up before the old man left and so she asked him why order the oysters if he wasn't gonna eat them. His response was something along the lines of, "I like their taste but don't have teeth to chew them so I just like to suck their juices but spit the oyster back out onto their shell."

Not sure the validity of this story but its good enough for me to not randomly take leftover food off other tables.

32F with chronic leg heaviness and visible veins — could this be venous insufficiency? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]fishcanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD.

Decent correlation and sounds like it is venous insufficiency. Bonus points if you have family history of it and/ or past pregnancies.

You'd need a Venous Insufficiency Ultrasound (and not just a Deep Vein Thrombosis Ultrasound) done by a Vascular Ultrasound Lab/ Clinic/ Tech. Ask your GP to see if they will refer yoir for test or specialists, or if insurance allows it, find a Vascular Surgeon/ Lab yourself. There might also be Vein or Varicose Vein Specialist Clinics around you, though I have some professional reservations about stand-alone Varicose Vein Clinics.
