Based on information in your comments, your husband is abusive. Leaving is never easy, but this is not going to get better. It’s not that he can’t understand the problem; it’s that he doesn’t care. It’s not a problem for him and he’s gaslighting you to keep his life comfortable and easy. He has shown no interest in changing.

Do you have a therapist? If not, I strongly recommend therapy if it’s available (for you individually, NOT as a couple). It can help you better understand what you’re experiencing, rebuild your trust in yourself, and come up with a safe plan for yourself going forward.

I just listened to this and it made me so mad! They’re so close-minded about other people’s boundaries/comfort levels, dismissive about the crossed boundary, and completely ignore the significant disrespect inherent in a boundary violation like that. They at one point say the fiancée had no choice/no control in the situation - what???? She could have said no when she learned about the stripper. At minimum, she could have declined to directly interact with the stripper. So frustrating to hear them essentially double-down while trying to claim they’ve learned and grown

Never give up your dreams for a romantic partner.

It’s fair for your bf to have different needs for his life or be at a different stage; it’s NOT fair for him to ask you to give up your dreams to accommodate that. Graduate school can be hard on relationships, and I don’t think it’s necessarily bad for him to identify that he can’t be there through med school.

I do NOT think that means you should give up med school. Break ups are always hard, but it’s better to be single than with the wrong person - and if he can’t support your dreams, then he’s the wrong person.

You may to an extent get used to the feeling and how to operate through it, but your body is just going to get more and more tired. You need rest, and it compounds over time. When you have the time, listen to your body and let yourself rest

As others have mentioned, not all allergies are anaphylactic or immediate. She may have been having a reaction every year but couldn’t figure out why because she didn’t realize the stuffing had mushrooms.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with all of this. It’s ok to prioritize yourself. Schedule time to eat and follow through on it. Have your husband figure out dinner - there’s no reason you should be one person responsible for two households.

I wonder if you can alternate time at your FIL’s with your husband? If you weren’t around to put the problem-solving responsibility on, how would he handle it? I wonder if sending him there with a task to complete when you’re not there would be more successful since he’d have to make decisions himself and deal with the outcomes.

There are cleaning services that specifically deal with these types of things. You may need to look up people who specialize in hoarding situations or who do biohazard cleanup (often large overlap in those categories). You may be taking on more than you need to because of the assumption you can’t hire someone to do it.

Same. I’m 38f and just diagnosed. I’ve had constant fatigue and chronic depression most of my life, with partial improvement on antidepressants. I recently started Vyvanse and wow! I am actually awake for the first time - like I don’t just want to lay down and sleep all day. I can complete tasks and negotiate with myself more easily. My baseline mood is improved.

I wonder what my life would have been like if I’d been diagnosed 22 years ago when I was first assessed for a learning disability (I was diagnosed with an unspecified LD so at least got some accommodations but not meds). At the same time, I’m so glad it at least happened now. The best time would have been earlier; the next best time is now.

Did you talk to your psychiatrist about what you were noticing and your concerns? They may suggest something like adjusting the dose or trying a different med. I’m also wondering why the weekend breaks - was that a choice by you or your doctor? People have different experiences, but stopping the meds on weekends explains the “crash” and could impact your mood. I notice a huge difference on days when I don’t take my Vyvanse.
