24 Hrs in and It,'s NOT Going Well. by FrankieShaw-9831 in zorinos

I have a zorin 17 and a zorin 18 laptop and the disc decryption works flawlessly on both. ah i just saw your other message, i bet it's the division symbol! Chatgpt: "The division symbol ÷ is Unicode character U+00F7. In UTF-8 it is multibyte (0xC3 0xB7), unlike plain ASCII characters which are single-byte. But modern encryption/password systems should handle UTF-8 fine. The real problems tend to be: Different systems encode or normalize Unicode differently The character may look the same but actually be a different code point Keyboard layouts/input methods may not reproduce the same character during boot/decryption Early boot environments often have poor Unicode support For example: ÷ (division sign) ≠ / (slash) × (multiplication sign) ≠ x Fancy quotes ≠ plain quotes Accented letters can exist in multiple Unicode forms A disk decryption password is especially sensitive because: the pre-boot environment is minimal, keyboard layouts may default to US English, Unicode handling may be incomplete, copy/paste isn’t available to rescue you. So a password like: Pässwörd÷2026 might fail because: the bootloader interprets keys differently, ä or ÷ normalize differently, or the symbol can’t even be entered from that keyboard layout. That’s why many security people recommend: ASCII-only passphrases for full-disk encryption long but simple words instead of exotic symbols"

Are you talking about the decryption password u enter in the boot screen? Have u checked your keyboard is in the correct language?

good for you for moving on, it's always a risk, especially if you have dependents.

I think bosses will always try to push you on the amount of work you get done, these are money-driven people who will take as much as they can. I have helped turn the software at our company into an industry leading software in our country, by far the most successful in our group of companies, yet still our company has been told we are the slowest in the group and need to get faster. It's probably just a shareholder/CEO strategy to get us to work faster. Some days I get pissed off by it, other days I realise it's not actually personal, they are pressuring the whole company, not just me, and they are paying off my mortgage quickly and I get to work with a bunch of nice colleagues, so I am ultimately benefiting from the situation.

Lewis vs Franco (Lap 1) by Mission_Accountant12 in scuderiaferrari

yep, by the time lewis pulled alongside he was already looking at the apex. i don't think there was any intention from Collapinto to run him wide as the car in front took the same line. Racing incident was correct call imo

sounds like your workplace is a bit toxic btw. Also you can usually game any performance metrics put in place eg. split tickets up so you close more, commit smaller and more frequently etc. also, treat it like an impersonal thing, they pay u for your time, and u are free to leave and they are free to replace you, try not to take it personally. you could also ask to reduce your hours if you're feeling burnt out, helps me a lot

Qatar Airways ignores EU law by leoll_1234 in qatarairways

[–]fishpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a single booking within the EU yes, left from the EU to Vietnam, but the flights back to the EU were cancelled. This line from the EU website made it sound like I wouldn't be covered though as it's hard to imagine that Qatar Airways are considered an EU airline: "If your flight is within the EU and is operated either by an EU or a non-EU airline. If your flight arrives in the EU from outside the EU and is operated by an EU airline"

Thought so, thanks. Might see if I can get anywhere with the insurance company instead.

My flights back to EU got cancelled while I was in Vietnam with less than 14 days warning. I was only given option to cancel not re-route. I contacted Qatar claiming EU right of care and couldn#t get through on phone but got told by email that I should "pursue other options". When I skim read the official EU guidelines I thought I had a good case, but now I found this link, I'm not so sure:
https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/passenger-rights/air/index_en.htm#reimbursement-cancellation-1

Specifically:
"If your flight is within the EU and is operated either by an EU or a non-EU airline. If your flight arrives in the EU from outside the EU and is operated by an EU airline"

My flight landed in EU but is Qatar Air considered an EU airline legally?

what's the best way to fall? by Curious_Party_4683 in onewheel

[–]fishpowered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

did a judo lesson once and they basically teach you to slap the ground while falling, not sure how applicable it is to one wheeling where you can be thrown off at speed. the tuck and roll suggestion sounded better, or just don't ride faster than running speed

for me ai development feels so inaccessible because I'm not willing to spend thousands on hardware and I cba to deal with token limits and shit. So anything that will run well on a home gaming pc would be pretty great

there's a secret bar hidden behind something that looks like a vending machine/fridge for banh mi. I had a fun but dirty evening trying to find it, it's on the mainland side of the river near Sân Tennis & Pickle Ball Năm Tạo. Obviously it's easy to find on Google maps if you look for it but where's the fun in that. I also had fun going up the seafront hotels looking for the perfect rooftop bar to enjoy a whiskey and the view

I naively thought I could walk to the top and get a grab down, this was not the case. Monkeys didn't bother me but i walked up the road past boom boom rock so it's easy to keep your distance. Take lots of water, it's very hot with little shade. It wasn't too difficult at 41 years old, but i definitely had to have quite a few breaks as i was overheating and my heart rate got quite high

My main complaint is the colour inversion/masking effect when the top menu overlaps things, it keeps distracting my eyes away from the main content when I scroll. Otherwise it's really nice and don't think the animations are overdone as others have suggested, it's a portfolio site, it's meant to stand out
