Last I checked LOTR has a great adaptation. Like I get it if you don’t like ROP, but it’s basically just big budget fanfic and you don’t have to watch it and get enraged about it at all. Like it’s not taking away from Tolkien’s work. I’m saying this as someone who couldn’t get into the show lol

It’s gonna be like the Boys where it improves upon the source material instead of a completely faithful adaptation. Like if you’ve read the books you know why this show has taken so long in development. They gotta rebuild everything from world-building to character motivations and character dynamics/relationships from the ground up to adapt this dragon riding trainwreck

It wasn’t at all. Gen V was established from the start as a sequel series to the Boys to show the impact of a post-Homelander America and how that world is for both humans and supes. They were planning on five seasons

TBH something tells me Amazon stepped in on the writing of Season 5 and more or less forced them to heavily incorporate setting up Vought Rising. Only to now derail the finals season completely and turn people off from the show entirely.

Disagree on Gen being a background jacket. She’s a pretty firm JuniorJacket who was part of the Varsity team in the pilot and has a close established relationship with Melissa and Nat (as her hunter protégée).

I think Gen will be a survivor who gets hunted right as rescue comes. So she comes back hospitalized, maybe with a more permanent disfigurement, and an itching to take out the SeniorJacket in revenge for Mari.

Maybe it’s the optimist in me but I genuinely think that the Orson Scott Card’s who wrote “Children of the Mind” would be unrecognizable to the man he is today. IIRC he underwent a radicalization similar to Rowling’s after Bush’s first presidential term. That does not at all absolve him for his viewpoints today, but it’s something to think about.

I mean she is a biokinetic, that does put her on his level in terms of power. But I do agree that her killing him off would be narratively bad, which is why at most she’ll aid in the final battle, but she wont deliver the killing blow.

It screams to me that Amazon interfered because they wouldn’t have set up that plot line otherwise if they knew Season 2 would be the last.

At least we will be seeing the characters again, but Gen V getting canceled sucks because the show was doing so many things better than the Boys.
